Forest Orienteering race (Middle - Alpe Adria) 1:02:54 [4] 4.5 km (13:59 / km) +290m 10:34 / km

Middle Elite M21+ 63rd

Went pretty slow and focused on the map with a goal of no mistakes. I did extremely well with the map and only made two mistakes through out the course, and one bad route choice. The first mistake was made because I took a risk as I ran through a complicated section and aimed to relocate on a big path just before the control. But I made a parrallel error on the path and ended up losing some time as I left it. Next for the 2nd mistake i was messed up by a person who looked like an elite runner began running in the same direction as my control. But then ran off further then mine which was on a hillside, and though I knew where I was relatively, I was off a little and lost some time trying to find the control.

I am working on my Blog, and I posted some of the maps with my route choices:

Forest Orienteering race (Sprint - Alpe Adria) 19:32 [5] 4.5 km (4:20 / km)

Sprint M Senior M21+ 40th out of 103

Ran as fast and hard as I could. Was feeling a little tired from before. Made barely any mistakes, only missed one turn (5 sec) and messed up the map exchange by running in the wrong direction. (11 sec)

Forest Orienteering race (Relay - Alpe Adria) 52:11 [4] 5.34 km (9:46 / km)

Relay M21+ 46th out of 94

Ran with Toni and Olivjaj. And also ran without a compass for training. Map went through the same area as the long course.

Forest Orienteering race 1:59:40 [4] 8.4 km (14:15 / km)

Long M21+ 45th

only messed up that I didn't follow my plan which was to run slow and stay In contact with the map. To control 9 I lost some time at the end because I took a risk and then I tried to made up for the lost time by speeding up resulting in only more mistakes. The beginning I did well though as I did it slower and made sure I stayed in contact more often.

The long race began as a surprise in relation to everyone's expectations to the technical intensity of it. Instead of bland long hills with charcoal pit a relatively detailed system of hills spurs, and rentrants that covered the entire map. I will post a picure of all the maps i have run on since I came to Europe today on my blog. I ran relatively well in the long but the biggest mistake that I made was not following my plan. Through the beginning everything was all right as the terrain was extremely technical as the course went through an area of green with subtle features. The next part became more runnable yet technical with respect to the contours. My plan had been to run easy and stay in contact with the map the whole time. As I

Rest day.

Forest Orienteering 46:00 [1] 2.0 km (23:00 / km)

Model map. Took it really easy.

Forest Orienteering 1:46:43 [4] 8.0 km (13:20 / km) +600m 9:42 / km

Ran a bit too much as I indented to do everything (both courses) and found out halfway that I was running out of time. I pretty much broke into race pace and now have to take everything really easy up to the races. The good news was that, like the training, mostly my map reading was really accurate.
