Orienteering race 1:25:00 [4] 4.5 km (18:53 / km)

Red Middle Distance course at AJ Jolly Park. The first 6 controls were set in a bush honey suckle jungle. After this the course opened up with a lot of open areas. I made a couple bad reads using the compass only. Not sure what I did, but most of the compass practice went well today. Enjoyable course sorry this was the last one, now back to the real world.

Orienteering 2:05:10 [4] 4.4 km (28:27 / km)

Red Middle Distance Course at Camp Ernst. Very technically challenging course set in a rough terrain (rocky - barb wire, etc.). My favorite controls were 7 to 13. A series of short, pithy controls after the wet creek crossing through Gun Powder Creek. I had a lot of missed time on this one. I made some awful route choices. I realized after the course, I was not able to see all the detail at 1: 10,000. The map was chalked full of details, that I did not make out will I was on the course. (Different reading glasses?)

Orienteering race 1:17:08 [4] 4.0 km (19:17 / km)

Fun course as part of the OINK National Meet. Ran on the Red Course. Traditional Middle Distance setup. Enjoyed controls 4 - 7 the most. I decided to work on using a Thumb Compass quickly. I have used a thumb compass for a while but not to it's full potential. So I did several legs, only using the compass. I wanted to orient the map, line up the thumb compass and go. Felt much more comfortable by the end of the meet using the thumb compass. Ran on Red so Chris & Dan would have some competition and I thought Red would have more controls and thus more practice.
