Recorded Session race (Forest) 1:08:00 [5] 6.9 km (9:51 / km)

BOC Long, Northumberland, 3rd behing Sarah and Jules
I made a massive effort to keep an eye on my compass on the way out of controls and it went well apart from number 3 (where sarah caught me up) when I was a bit too far down the slope. Kept trying to do sneaky route choices to hide from Sarah and kept getting there just behind her, but I probably didn't lose anything as I can't beat her in a flat out race anyway. Some better attack point might have helped, but overall I'm happy with it.
My knees hurt on the warm up and I could barely jog after I finished but they were both fine on the way round. It seems to be more my shins (the muscles on the front outside) and just above them

Orienteering race (Forest) 36:00 [4] 4.5 km (8:00 / km)

Mispunched, but otherwise it went well. I'm still fuzzy navigating in undergrowth but I managed not to have any disasters.
My knee didn't hurt

Tuesday May 27, 2014 #

Running (Road) 43:00 [3] 7.9 km (5:27 / km)

Flat for 3.4km, uphill for 1km (path), down for 2km, flat for 1.5
My knees were fine until the downhill, but they're fine if I run in a certain way, which seemed to be faster for the not much more effort anyway.

Steep hill: 700m/4.05mins
Less steep hill: 550m/2.55mins

Jog home

Sunday May 25, 2014 #

Friday May 23, 2014 #

Running (Hilly Path/track) 30:00 [4] 5.5 km (5:27 / km)

Wednesday May 21, 2014 #

Cycling 40:00 [4] 12.0 km (3:20 / km)

to Hannah's, along Fishouse Lane and back, up from Low wood and down Brow edge, then to the bottom of Back Lane

Running 10:00 [4] 2.0 km (5:00 / km)

Up Back lane to test my knees: Didn't hurt! Until I stopped to get back on my bike, but not whilst running.

S&C 30:00 [2]

Glutes and foam rollering

Monday May 19, 2014 #

Running hills (short) 40:00 [5] 4.3 km (9:18 / km)

Jog
2 sets of 10 x 15s fairly steep sprints
7 x 15s v steep
20 min jog

Sunday May 18, 2014 #

Running (Flat off road) 1:10:00 [4]

2km jog
6 x 200m intervals on the embankmants
jog home along the river path, under the A590, Causeway then back over the Heights from Lane Ends.
My arms feel really weak, probably because I haven't run fast enough to really use them for a while. My knees are fine on the uphill, the left one didn't hurt at all but my right knee and left lower calf still hurt on the downhills and just below both knees hurt after the intervals

Cycling 54:00 [3] 18.0 km (3:00 / km)

Graythwaite loop again. Loving the Graythwaite loop

Cycling 40:00 [3]

Friday May 16, 2014 #

Running (Hilly) 35:00 [3]

Another wild Heights variation. If I lift my knees very high and land on my toes it seems to be ok but quite tiring after a bit

Thursday May 15, 2014 #

Running (Hilly Path/track) 29:00 [3]

A variation on the Heights loop to test out my knees - fine apart from the steps one the way down, and my shins hurt a bit on the flat bit back to the main track

Wednesday May 14, 2014 #

S&C 45:00 [5]

Part 2 of my fitness video hahah what is life? At least it didn't hurt my leggies

Sunday May 11, 2014 #

Running hills (Road) 15:00 [5]

10 x short steep hills (about 150m)
Walking the downhill to save my knee, which didn't hurt so much on the way up

Running (Road) 40:00 [2]

STILL hurts so I had to run there pretty slowly. Less painful than Friday I think, so we have progress

Saturday May 10, 2014 #

S&C 30:00 [4]

Some workout video I found on youtube god help me

Friday May 9, 2014 #

Running (Easy) 40:00 [2] 6.0 km (6:40 / km)

Nope, still hurts
Done double extra keen S&C plus foam rollering this week donc ca m'a offensé beaucoup

Monday May 5, 2014 #

Orienteering race (Urban) 53:00 [4] 9.0 km (5:53 / km)

Analysis on map. Most of the navigation was good, a few hesitations here and there but almost all of the time was lost on the running I think, and those steps at the end were the worst form of torture. Other than that it was fun and I'm glad I did it in the end

Sunday May 4, 2014 #

Cycling 50:00 [3] 13.0 km (3:51 / km)

Up Gummers How there and down on the way home

Orienteering race (Forest Middle) 1:04:00 [4] 4.7 km (13:37 / km)

Northern Champs
Absolutely shocking. Analysis on map

Running warm up/down (Road) 18:00 [3] 3.0 km (6:00 / km)

Warm down jog, just needed some space to be an antisocial git.
My knees sort of seized up but not as badly as yesterday, although they hurt more on the actual race than they did on other days. It would be nice to blame my bad runs on that but that would be lying unfortunately.

Saturday May 3, 2014 #

Cycling 30:00 [3] 6.5 km (4:37 / km)

To/from Finsthwaite House

Orienteering race (Forest Middle) 57:00 [4] 4.7 km (12:08 / km)

Analysis on map and routegadget done. Not my best but nothing's going right so why should this?

Friday May 2, 2014 #

Note
(injured)

Resting my knee in prep for this weekend, no time to ride my bicycle because some idiot timetabled phys and bio empas on consecutive days. Arsehole.
