Better than day 2 but not by much. Three major messes (4,7,19) one of which was because I didn't run far enough down a path. Maybe I should go back to yellow courses.

Messed up the first control after leaving the start too fast. Other than that (and somehow ending up in some kind of cupboard/cellar near number 9) I though it went quite well. Oh look, I'm still like 3 minutes behind Julie..

The Parkrun was cancelled because of the snow (howsadnevermind) so mutti und mich habe vor eine trot gegangen. Started off a little stressful but ended rather jollily and anything is a nice break from ICT coursework.. Not as cold as I was expecting but my legs were quite tired by the end, and mum reckoned that was because of the cold and having already been out in the cold this morning.

3 just-over-100m sprints concentrating on technique, apparently I need to shorten my stride length and increase my cadence

Jogwalking with muttlich round the western half of the TDS Bigland training. Pretty interesting noticing how differently we do things - most of our route plans would have been different, and she paces EVERYTHING.

I think the people coming out of whitewater hotel may have found me a little odd..

Craazyyy! Most fun I've had on a cross country race for ages! Pretty awful result (292 I think) but such a good time :D
I really need to do more core and speed work - I'm all slow and wobbly compared to them

Left the line completely at one point because I wasn't watching my compass

Concentrating on planning ahead - went well until the short legs got the better of me

Such a bad route choice to number 1 (past 3 and 2) but other than that it was good and I felt I was planning/visualising soon enough

Good:
-Kept up my goal of planning ahead (visualise the control circle and plan direction out of it within the first 30% of the leg) on about 11/15 controls
-Route choice on the long leg, I was (very) slow but kept it together
Bad:
-Dealt with distractions pretty badly, messed up after the missing control and lost concentration completely after falling over

5 one minute intervals with 1 minute recovery. The first three on the usual track then two really radical (and steep) ones up another path into the woods

Three compass and pacing exercises:
Putting a control out then swapping - My bearing was ok but I stopped too early because I found a (wrong) re-entrant.
Two downhill bearings - both reasonably close (within about 10m) although if I hadn't seen the path I probably would have gone further right on the second, so maybe that's cheating

Went pretty well considering I haven't done night orienteering for ages other than our tres grave race at nwjs.. I only got lost twice and once wasn't even that badly
