Note
(sick)

We did the NASA Lean test again, first time in 6-7 weeks. Not bad, but sadly not what it should be. Pulse still going up after several minutes standing, up to 106, which is wayyyy too high, should be 90 or under. https://twitter.com/PhilM64/status/152578085997404...

Sadly, I then went on to have a really shitty day. We walked in Gore Glen off the A7, but this was not a happy occasion, due to my brain-"wrong"/ feeling "off colour" / "malaise". (not really bad enough to be called "fog"?).

First proper bad day since 11th April. Very, very disappointed, but then..........

The bass player / singer/ band leader of my first proper Bristol band, The Recovered, died of cancer today.

Those who came down for the Bristol beer festival by the river stag w/e in 2008 may remember my band. I'm the only surviving male member now, as Dave the drummer committed suicide in 2016. Both were born c.1970.

Excellent trip to Lakes, staying at Filter house with Mike.

Walk , with many rests, up to Hayeswater at top of the valley, including my biggest climb yet - but i was walking v v slowly!

Mainly all good, a bit tired / needed a nap after, but all in all another successful pointer to my ongoing improvement (daren't use the term "recovery" yet).

No plans whatsoever to return to "training" or "races", at all, despite driving past the OMM 2015 venue on my way home for a change. Great memories, and that'll do. I'll sit tight on those laurels thanks. Feeling well is just wonderful in itself.

(rest day)

One calendar month now, since my last "bad day" (with CFS/ME symptoms)

(15 days since my last "rather tired/frazzled" day, but that's just life, isn't it?)

Heading off to a very off-piste accommodation near Patterdale today. Should be an "experience"! Will take everything in steady chunks with lots of breaks.

Got quarterly Diabetes bloods back today - terrific news - dropped 30% .

Back to where I was in the good years. My attention to diet has really paid off. I think a huge thing was "normal" beer - it was spiking my bloods insanely. In particular, San Miguel - I'd get flushed & "high" - I loved it. now I know why......
Dry wines / Lite beer & / or.... just a cup of tea. way to go.

nb. My dreadful (borderline dangerous) reading in January was probably also something to do with the fact I was extremely ill at the time, too.
