Running race (Time trial) 1:26:37 [5] 21.13 km (4:06 / km) +71m 4:02 / km
shoes: adizero adios 4

Rogue Runs Sheppardine Half Marathon- good run. time trial so we set off whenever, really, between 9 & 10am. Sunny, but cool.

Wind "behind" in first 10k , & my splits seemed effortless & super fast, felt awesome. Passing people all the time, great for confidence. Many runners in new carbon plate cheat shoes. I need a pair.

Things got tricky from 8 miles (wind/slight uphill/legs started feeling it), and the final 2 miles were hell. Mainly calf cramps. Blisters threatened at 10km but that pain went when the legs started folding.

there's more in the tank. definitely. Really enjoyed today. Kudos to Andy Creber & Rogue Runs - amazing organisation! https://sites.google.com/site/roguerunsevents/home...

5k: 20:12
10k - 40:22 feeling BRILLIANT.
1 hour - 14.7km (Vet pb by 400m)
15k - 61:06 Vet pb
10 miles 65:30 Vet pb; wheels starting to come off.
20k: 81:58 Vet pb in AGONY

Prov results - 85th, 2nd Vet50 - only 55 secs off the win! https://drive.google.com/file/d/14MtfNAWlSqoeIZH66...

EDit: 2nd Vet50? "well done" https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ojrrCBkcRireX9hoH...

Climbing (Trad) 45:00 [3]

Trad climbing, Avon, with Paul, started early so as to avoid the "heat" (dear me!) (my choice)

Crazy routes going into the real scary exposed steep stuff. Let Paul lead , as saving myself (race tomorrow), but even so was nearly "off" on the final traverse 5a pitch.

Napped later. Race tomorrow - looks breezy & sunny. Damn.

Kept forgetting to start / stop Garmin but wanted, for a change, to put something on Strava for this crazy hobby. As very photogenic day!

shoes: Brooks Ravenna 11

Steady run from Liz's in warm weather with two Garmins on.

Not sure about the new one yet (an error as i went over the AShton flyover), but it finds sattelites v quickly.

Felt fine.

Climbing (Trad) 1:00:00 [4]

Trad climbing Shorn Cliff Wye valley, amazing day (weather / rock conditions), with Scared Dave.

4 routes, fantastic all of them , I'm going to miss this place so much. 2 classic three star HVS leads, and my first ever E2 onsight , though to be fair it has 6 in situ threads in it, but even so, it was steep & tough, but I was fine fine fine. "Run for Home", E2 5b

Finished in the near dark on a 110ft HVS which is tough, first climbed in 1997, blew me away then. was still hard at the top but I am a different beast now. Older but vastly more experienced. Dave had to aid it.

Got home at 9:30 pm, beer immediately, and from days like this, come happy lives.

Climbing (Trad) 45:00 [3]

Trad climbing in Avon gorge with Dom G. Scary & committing abseil on to railing / viewing platform at Giants Cave, where a jumper had killed himself the previous evening. at the time we didn't know if he was a climber.

Type 2 fun. Some of the actual climbing was good, but the hassle to get there & the hideous brambles made this an ordeal.

3 routes, at VS / 4b/c. Including the legendary "In through the Out door" as climbed by old westbury chum John Fitch in 1993, the year it all started (Bristol & my climbing life).

Orienteering 1:10:14 [3] 12.1 km (5:48 / km) +168m 5:26 / km
shoes: Brooks Ravenna 11

Sunny & dry again. Steady running/"orienteering" with the Potter-esque O map from December BOK event, picking a few sites, taking a few different routes, etc . Checking out some features, checking out some bolted climbing lines too.

Got a good 70 mins in, as last "long" session before Sunday's half now. Certainly not too tired at the end. Not unfit.

Note

Liz & I have found (& successfully secured) this house to live in from mid May, south east of Edinburgh. ESOC, then? INT? Won't be FVO, then.....

Can't wait for the Big Life Change. I'm going to be a Pentlands demon. Did OK there last time, I seem to remember ;-)

Running 35:21 [3] 7.41 km (4:46 / km) +121m 4:25 / km
shoes: Brooks Ravenna 11

Nice recovery run, in sun in the park.

Bone dry up there, it's binary - either a quagmire or a desert.

Felt fine . A few strides later, & a sustained burst on grass, but nothing massive. https://www.strava.com/activities/5154065983
