Warm Up/Down 30:00 [3]

Running race 44:47 [3] 12.0 km (3:44 / km)

Set off on the super aggressive start exactly as planned out of danger going fast but feeling in control, looking around I could see I was with some quick people (too quick?).
Made it around the first short lap and saw Peter Bray and tagged on to him and stayed on his shoulder for all of the first big lap which put me into a really good position.
Then on the hardest part the long exposed incline he edged ahead and I went back, from then on it was just about keeping pace. For 1 and a 1/2 laps I kept him within eye sight but he edged forward and I went back unable to find a group to work with.
Then on the final lap in a sort of no amns zone conciously kept telling myself to keep digging and keep the pace up but it was hard with few people behind and the group ahead just too fast.
Then on the hill down I started to feel a cramp in my right calf. From experience I rarely get a muscle cramp and so I knew this could be deadly if I wasn't careful (and so close to the finish).
What it resulted in is the most embarissing sprint finish ever, where I was neck and neck with a guy I knew I felt strong enough to over take but I couldn't fully extend my right leg so was running in such a weird style and threw myself over the line.

Overall really pleased, bit annoyed that last year I put in so much more training felt I ran a better race and came a worse position, guess it shows you how critical a tactical raise and just general fitness are.

Also annoyed that if Peter Bray hadn't sped up on that section I probably could ahve kept with him and

atleast 15 places higher???

Race Write Up:

Started fast but conciously let people get ahead of me whilst only slightly easing down. Then around the 1st lap found myself gatting passed by a group with both my nemesis' in 'hairy arms' and 'Jarlath' I knew both were on form so was worried about keeping with them, but went for it.

The next lap flew by and I knew I was on for a pb if I stayed in this group. Held on for the third and final lap and felt myself tiring but still stayed in the pack. Then there was some jostling so moved in just behind Jarlath.

Then on the finishing straight which was very long kicked early and got tired but got such a gap I ebat everyone but JArlath in the group.

Probably one of the best paced races I have ever run in my life.

Commute (bike) 12:00 [3]

Orienteering 40:00 [3]

Training with UBOC on the downs.
Was a lot of fun and really technical that area is definitely a hidden gem. Was fairly controlled and recovering from yesterday butt still made a few stupid errors.
Nav is noticeably becoming more stable which is positive and something which will be tested as S champs

Warm Up/Down 35:00 [3]

includes cool down and long warm up.

Running race 16:10 [3] 5.0 km (3:14 / km)

Loads of reasons why I wanted to do this race with the main one being I didn't know where my fitness was before BUCS and what to expect.
Obviously very happy but couldn't help wondering what I could have run with better training.
Will update on race later :)

Note

Yo Grey check it :P

Running 45:00 [3]

Standard docks run, wanted a bit more tempo but not too strenuous so stuck with Lawrence the whole way round so was going pretty quick but in control the whole way and not too tired after wards
