Warm Up/Down 20:00 [3] 1.5 km (13:20 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X Talon 212

Orienteering (SARUM Saunter) 39:27 [3] 6.3 km (6:16 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X Talon 212

Distance: 5.7km
Height: 150m
Controls: 25
Place: 1st Black/1st M18 (now the SW middle distance champion!)
Really great performance, exceeded all my aims and expectations, winning black and beating Jack Banham and Harry Butt by a lot.
Came into this race as perfect JK training and be able to assess how much better I have got, with the goals of beating Harry Butt and running a quick time for a middle.
- Normally I mess up at the start but my first control was good and I came out already in 2nd.
- 2 I ran the fastest split but could have been faster as a part of the map was marked as fight which wasn't that made me doubt myself.
-3 I nearly ran straight past because I thought it was too soon, luckily I checked the control number and only lost 3 seconds.
- I did Ok but my route could have been a bit better and I took a bad fall.
-5 was one of the harder controls but I pushed really hard down the hill, then matched the features up well
-6 was my worst control, lost 1.35 here and nearly cost me the race, ran out from 5 barely looking at my compass drifted way too far off in the wrong way, luckily saw the field but still ran around like a headless chicken for ages.
-7/8/9/10/11/12 were all fine running really hard and navigating well, 9 was so easy I was worried it was going to be the wrong control but it was fine.
-13 didn't loose much time only 5 secs but it was too easy too ave lost any time and I should have pushed.
-14 second worst leg, came off too early realised what I had done and then, found it OK, lost 26 secs though.
-the only leg with any real route choice, either go up and straight or around on a path and in, I started heading up changed my mind and played it safe on the path, I don't regret this decision as I only lost 15 secs but I should have just blasted the path.
-16/17/18 all good, just hesitation
-19 losst 22 secs but I was expecting it to be more because I tooka bad route choice.
-20 good
-21 set off with no real plan, but I hit a good patha nd got the control
-22 good
-23 lost 8 secs should ahve run harder
-24/25 blitzed it and came into win

GREAT DAY

Orienteering 1:45:00 [3] 11.0 km (9:33 / km)
shoes: New Balance 110

All Devon training:
Got there late and ran a couple of control and then collected a few, easy locations so ran it bang on, execept one which was hard and I got to OK but spent a couple minutes at it to be sure as I was collecting and so didn't want to be wrong.
Then some execercises, not going to lie the 'kangaroo technique' will not be my favoured warm up
Then we ran a relay simulation, so we all started at the same time but had slight alternations on our course. Ran 1 and 2 really badly because I didn't have me head in it yet, leaving 2 I saw Grey on the horizon (not sure he actually got 2)
The rest of the course I ran more or less really well and managed to be first back by a lot.
Hopefully its looking good for tomorrow.

Really fun hash in a fun area, with some good searching involved. Light worked perfectly and gave me a lot of confidence on the decents.

Flash when you read this.... good training for Sunday!

Running 56:35 [3] 11.5 km (4:55 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X Talon 212

Unplanned threshold run going at a good pace: 4.2km in 16.05

Then really easy recovery run, and back at an easy but decent speed. Most importantly my heel was OK in my X-talons, still have to be careful but they should be fine pretty soon to be worn regularly.
