Cycling 35:00 [3]

Including to Dinah's

Warm Up/Down 5:00 [3]

Intervals 18:00 [3]

6 x 3mins out and back with Chris as Keith was on the road. Could feel my Achilles again but not in pain. Nice to have orienteers doing well with Meg and Ben running well :)

Running (PUB RUN) 1:00:00 [3]

pretty slow with a lot of stopping. But fun seeing some random little areas in Bristol. Achilles still an issue :(

Warm Up/Down 20:00 [3]

Orienteering (BUCS RELAY) 36:00 [3]

1st Leg not sure position but maybe 7th???

Started really cautiously and struggled to see control 1. Found it losing time but headed to control two thinking I was already out of the pack. Then to #3 saw some decent runners sround me so settled in. Rest of the course we worked together and it turns out we were in the second pack after the leaders. Nav was good as hit all my gaffles well.

Only big mistake was bigmess up on the second lap where the control was literally on the path which threw me.

Area was pretty horrible and I was tired but really happy to come through spectator just off the leaders.

GOOD FINAL BUCS :)

Warm Up/Down 25:00 [3]

Orienteering (BUCS) 1:14:44 [3]

Had a good run and came a decent position (22nd), which was definitely my aim for BUCS. No huge mistakes except losing my dibber and one or two poor route choices and a lot of caution.

I don't have a representative bof ranking and I think I might not have put my bof number on the entry but I was literally one of the first uni students to run. It's easy to say running later is an adv but I was genuinely alone on the course for the entire run and as my running strength is strong I could ahve helped being paced along with others. So 22nd is a good result but doesn't truly repressent how well my run went.

Note

Achilles:
Not in too much pain but this has the potential to become a real injury so before BUCS I'm either going to not run at all or very easy and flat.

Running 30:00 [3]

Didn't plan to run but new shoes and so slow should be ok. Could defo feel my achilles but not a problem.

Commute (bike) 30:00 [3]

Warm Up/Down 10:00 [3]

Intervals (Combey D) 32:00 [3]

2 x2mins
2x 4mins
2x 6mins
2x4mins (missed 2mjns for toilet)
1 x 2mins (missed final rep)

Achilles starting to ache not an issue yet but really cannot be bothered to get injured so will reduce road running and watch it carefully.

Also ate before coming which messed up training completely

Running (pub run) 1:00:00 [3]

Feeling a bit dead from yesterday but felt better by the end.

Sunday Mar 12, 2017 #

Warm Up/Down 20:00 [3]

Orienteering (CSC QUALIFIER) 1:20:36 [3]

A bad result but happy I went.

Been working on my O recently and my running shape is decent so thought today would be OK. I knew lack of sleep from night before would be an issue but had some really bad mistakes and had a lack of motivation the whole way round.

Hopefully getting my bad runs out of the way before BUCS this weekend.

Commute (bike) 20:00 [3]

To Ashton Court

Orienteering 1:00:00 [3]

Left uni early and ran a small loop in the technical end of Ashton. Then ran a new area for me Ashton Hill Forest. Expected it to be really overgrown... and it was but not that badly. Ran some technical controls and really enjoyed it. Fun little run.

Commute (bike) 15:00 [3]

Warm Up/Down 10:00 [3]

Intervals 22:00 [3] 4.0 mi (5:30 / mi)

4 x 1mile on the downs

Pretty tired from yesterday and had blisters from my shoes so was going fairly slow. But pretty low turnout so could set my own pace.

I've been using a £10 pair of chairty shop shoes for road running for the last 5 months and probably should invest in something nicer. No dollar though :(

Warm Up/Down 20:00 [3]

Running race (Teddy Hall) 19:26 [3] 5.8 km (3:21 / km)

Good run on the last leg which I paced well but as I had no one around probably took it a bit too easy.
Really happy to come 3rd in the men's team!

Running 1:00:00 [3]

Good run round the downs and then into Ashton and back. Felt slugish at the start but a bit better at the end.

Warm Up/Down 15:00 [3]

Orienteering race 1:11:56 [3]

Three years ago I ran the Welsh Champs on Merthyr Mawr and went so wrong I retired. So just by finishing I improved a lot.

Had some fairly big mistakes on the long legs where I set out well but then lost track of where I was and struggled to relocated.

Surprised by the result as I knew I didn't run amazingly but the course seemed challenging and physical so usually I would expect to be closer to certain people (Grey beat me by 5mins).

I guess I have to work a lot on my nav. Looking forward to BUCS though.
