Orienteering (Quantock Long-O score) 1:07:00 [3] 12.0 km (5:35 / km)

Horrible effort!
The system in place meant that you could only get the same value control or higher, for example if I got a 20 I could not get a 10 but I could get a 30/40. Basically it meant that you really had to think about route choice as I expected the 10s to be close by but they were really far away.
Anyway I got the first control in good time and so thought I could do a long run out to another 10 at the corner of the map. I know it may sound like I am blaming the map but it was so terrible I thought I had gone wrong, anyway ran to the right place and paths that should ahve been there just weren't and I couldn't fin the control. Grey also couldn't find this control. Then after this I just gave up as I had lost so much time and so I decided to keep going but not to go nuts.
I guess I did ok as I still scored 250 only 20 behind grey but still it could have gone so much better.

Running (warm up) 20:00 [3] 2.0 km (10:00 / km)

running back and forth the diorganised quantcok people.

Orienteering (Friday training) 1:30:00 [3] 5.0 km (18:00 / km)

start was reasonably useful on distance work but it went downhill from there as the course was not laid and awful and two of the points weren't even mapped! Basically no gain and no fitness at all.
Must work on distance judgement though!

Cycling (sidmouth and back) 50:00 [5] 12.6 mi (3:58 / mi) +500m 3:32 / mi

Pushed really hard over the hills and managed a quick time. Wanted to check the waves at sidmouth as my motivation for doing it.

Orienteering race (Quantock Forrest League) 51:01 [5] 4.5 km (11:20 / km) +270m 8:43 / km

Not sure how to access my performance as I got a descent time.
Mistakes: -On 2 I was running on a bearing roughly through the wood and headed far too much to the side and hit the path. Got disorientated but found it eventually, added +2 mins. Looking back should have been a really easy control.
-Control was my worst mistake as i was in a runnable section of some fight, most annoyingly is I knew exactly where I was and what I had to do but just kept running past it. Lost about +3.30 here at least.
-Only a minor error as I went too far down the slope and so just missed, only about +25 seconds as I quickly found it by following the slope up.
- No real mistake to 8,only hesitation and not committing to route choice and so going to slowly through the 'young trees', could make up at least a +1 minute.
-9 hesitation error as I was just below the control, +20 seconds.
-To 11 could have been, a lot faster as it was only a route choice mistake. Came down the slope to hit the path, with hindsight I should have just contoured over to the path and followed it round, +1 minute.
-No mistake on 13 but I should fell at the control, +10.
-Again no mistake only hesitation as I thought a control on the path might be the finish.

Running (Warm up) 15:00 [0]

Quick warm up.

Orienteering (Tess's Training) 1:30:00 [2] * 8.0 km (11:15 / km)

Mixed feelings about today as there were a lot of people out which is positive and good to see Devon getting stronger. However, I ran straight through brambles realized I couldn't get through and had to run back. I have scratched my legs to bits. Then I just stuck to paths and the controls were so easy it just became case of jogging to each control. Also two of the controls were laid in the wrong place, which was a little annoying.
Not sure how constructive it was, but good to be in an orienteering mindset.

Orienteering (Caddihoe Chase) 1:09:00 [3] 7.5 km (9:12 / km) +185m 8:11 / km

Went surprisingly well, beat Grey back despite him doing a blue course. However, still a lot of room for improvement as most of my errors were not so much navigational as route choice and going off in the wrong direction. Physically quite demanding and I should have pushed myself a bit harder,, but my hip was OK.

Running (Warm up) 1:00:00 [3] 7.0 km (8:34 / km)

Must have run so far taking Zak to the start and going to and from my start and finish.

Orienteering (Byes Training) 1:20:00 [3] 8.0 km (10:00 / km)

Fun session at Byes, navigation far too easy though, more like running around with a map. Good to start thinking about it though. Hip injury still a major issue.
