Didn't bother going pre breakfast but opted for sleep instead. Easy cruise out on the fields from home. Horribly muddy but a warm(ish) and sunny(ish) day made this quite pleasant. Maybe a bit longer than needed but felt good and was enjoying myself.

JK Relay leg 1.
In reality not much to go for today with a bit of a weakened team. Still tried to have some fun and legs felt better than expected after yesterday. Moving well at the start and felt nice and in control until messing up 5 and 6 in a row losing ground a big. Still managed to plug away and had caught back by 7 but then ballsed up 8 (only major mistake) losing the pack. Seems like everyone cocked up though bar a few so then got my head in gear and raced properly, planning and code checking well, pulling back up to Rhys and Schminty by the top of the hill. Legs tired from the bottom of the hill up though and they gapped on the top but still only 15s down on them and 50 on Pete so not too bad. Scrappy run though, saved by everyone else's scrappiness I think, need to make sure to be more disciplined out of controls but enjoyed it nonetheless.
Probably the most I've enjoyed a JK. Whilst it was WUOC selection races, I still felt like I was racing with no pressure just enjoyed it all and was happy with how my fitness from the winter came good, especially after the problems in November. Really looking forward to having the same feeling in the coming season, just relaxing in to the O and not stressing out. Good weekend.

Easy trot around the roads after a nice afternoon eating chocolate and binging TV. Wanted to ease the legs out after the weekend and try to allay the doms. Tired as expected.

JK Long -16th

Looking forward to it and from hearing Willy go through spectator knew it would be a long toughy. Settled nicely at the start but lost a few minutes early doors being just lazy in to the controls. After seeing Ali closing fast I knew it was time to knuckle down and focus which I managed to do nicely and settled in to a good rhythm, pushing well. No real issues other than being lonely making it a touch difficult to push at times meaning I was probably just shifting a bit slower than those in packs. Tired, as expected, as I got to 29 and losing more time on the control before spectator shows this. After spectator was a bit of a crawl and just didn't have the legs to properly push but managed to chug along ok, not mentally giving up but body not responding as well. Then a dirty grind up the hill to finish.
Fun though and great to get my first big boy course done and feel reasonably good on it. Happy to have placed reasonably well but with just a couple of tweaks and a bit more attention I think I could hop up a few more. Fitness good though, just need to work on concentrating later in a race and staying aggressive.

JK Middle - 19th

Looking forward to it. Steady out the start but felt a bit rushed through the first bit. Then settled but maybe catching a glimpse of Ali on the way to 14 maybe meant I focused on running not navigating. Lost 30s on 16 and then scrappy and dropped more through the spurs. Then just felt scrappy and hesitant the rest of the way and legs never felt like they got going today, bit sluggish and heavy. Reckon I should have gone faster today, too many small mistakes that I didn't tighten up on but enjoyed it nonetheless, fun running 21E to be fair. All to play for tomorrow!

JK Sprint 2018 - 9th= with the Elk.
Messed up entries so was stuck with first start. I know on paper this shouldn't make a different but knowing nothing about the course and having no advice from anyone else was a disadvantage I reckon. Still, got on with it. All pretty easy really, need to check routechoices but reckon I missed a couple and felt hesitant at times. Think the main thing was that everyone else will have known to go balls out from the start whereas I was still following proper technique trying to plan etc when there was really no need, unfortunately didn't realise until around spectator. Still, relatively happy with the result and was a fun blast out. Jonesy in another league, hat's off.

Note
(rest day)

Still feeling pretty good but following the taper plan.

Note

On the off chance, does anyone know of any drop outs in the JK sprint on friday? Messed up entries and so have been slotted in on first start but they said I could be put in on someone's start as long as it was in line with the start block I would have been in.
