The legendary "Pentecost-Relay" is all about camping, BBQ, a good beer after your race, much socializing - and of course some orienteering.
As I started both, during the night and the day, I wanted to take the night mass start really serious and the day leg a bit less....and the result was matching those goals quite well.
20min before the start I wanted to connect my lamp to the battery and do some warm up. Long story short: Nothing worked, just some few minutes warm up, but at least I got a working lamp just in time. (Trying to get one from a friend for Jukola and checking out the problem of mine later...)
Following the folk to #1, should have taken the path around. Badly bruised my hand somewhere in the green, still not looking good today (Monday), but I guess it's at least not broken. Hurting little bit throughout the course, but had other things to do out there in the forest: Following the bulk to #2 and #2 and eventually taking over the lead to forked #4. First there, then taking the "running-around-route" to the next one which was slower. (2min behind Lauenstein there at this point of the race)
Running alone (just some company on the way to #6) until #10. At this control (or whilst looking for it) the latter winning trio first time met in the forest.
OBT and me somehow got away from Lauenstein, resulting in a 1:20 lead at the arena passage. Well, one control later those seconds were gone and the trio made it into the finish with a 16min (!) gap to the next runners. Nice one! :)
Results (Not really working well at the moment....)
