PM - Bonner Park - 9 pt course set by Spike. It's summer! Sweaty warm. Nice easy course, mowed grass, new map, new area.

orienteering 3:07:00 [4] 17.5 mi (10:41 / mi)

AM - did Eric Saggar's KCMO urban rogaine course from last July, 01. Set a 3 hr time limit and started from Loose Park (Dee was running the Amy Thompson 8K). Great day for a run. 1st control in Loose Park was closed for construction so couldn't get to fountain. Nearly all control points were water fountains. Eric did a great job setting this up. Most interesting clue: how many steps in the Valencia Staircase? (65). Drank lots of water and ate Powerbars. Wasn't wiped out like other 3 hr runs. Also crossed over to the Kansas side after going over to the Paseo.

(B Oriole, RW BBird - RWBBs are everywhere - shouldn't include in my sightings. No comparison to Mark Robbins who officially claimed 225 species in a 1-day bird watch around the state)

15 min from home to river trail start, 15 min after race.

MTN Training Series race at river trails. 1-mile loop - 10 laps for winner. I was lapped twice; got dropped in the first 200-300 meters. Not going to catch up to any of these guys/gals, but mtn biking at a high heart rate is kinda fun. Need to get the bike tuned up, no grease in the bottom bracket for weeks.

PM - Shawnee Mission Park - line O - setup by Mary. Walked among 4 deer in clearing next to Theater in the Park (nice things to see sometimes when you overshoot an attackpoint).

PM - some stretching, weights - using long slow reps (10 sec on "up", 4 sec down - one set each around BFC). RW article says going slowing develops strength faster. We shall see.
