British Long Distance Champs at Brown Clee Hill - M21E 14.4km
RoutegadgetThat went badly
Haven't felt this bad orienteering from start to finish since Scottish 6 Days: Day 5 last August
Firstly lets look at the positives: My achilles didn't hurt
Now lets look at the negatives:
I hated this from start to finish, making tons of mistakes leaving me with no motivation. At times I was just feeling sorry for the NGOC member I was giving a lift to who was having to wait for me to finish. I left my food i was going to take round with me in my rucksack. Very near the end the right side of my groin tightened up so couldn't sprint finish but that seems to have gone away now. Blowing hard as early as number 4 just wishing for the end.
Time losses1) 1 min. That was not white so couldn't follow bearing. Old map mapped it as light green which more accurate
3) 2 mins Searching in the wrong patch of white probably due to not following bearing out of 2
5) 5 mins. I was so close, it just hidden behind an unmapped clump of trees. Ticked off point 18 which was on the way but then when nearby got distracted by others and went to what turned out to be my 27 but didn't realise. Went back to point 18 and tried again and missed it but ended up at number 6 and then attacked from there.
7) Very hesitant as couldn't relate the ground infront of me to the map
8) 30s Ran up the wrong side of a hill
9) 1:45 Poor bearing ended up way too far south
25) hesitant as couldn't relate the map to the ground
33) 45s Aimless running ending up too far north
