OMM. So we met Heather Wade, and good grief she’s tedious. First day featured the first hour with me clinging on for dear life to A’s back over fairly runnable bog grass. After that the heather started and there was a lot of it. Longer legs became a bigger advantage in what was a pathless heather-fest. This carried on for long time and the last few k of track was very welcome. For future reference I probably wasn’t eating or drinking quite enough - jelly babies, gels, shot blocks were all ok. Rainy happy night in the tent.
Day 2 - same again - an hour of me hanging on, then the heather started again. Couple of controls in and A did an ankle (ouch) in the middle of a bad patch, so we baled to the road and back to the start via OOB and the kindness of strangers, so n/c. But a really good weekend.
No blisters (long sealskinz in Innov8). Unusual muscle aches today - mostly from lifting feet over Heather instead of running. Can’t have actually run more than 10k over both days.
