Note
IOC dominated by my controlling duties for the relay.
Very pleased with my middle and long distance runs. 1st M50 in each.
I haven't had good physical preparation, with injury and covid.
Laughable that I also bagged 1st M50 in the Sprint, but would've have placed only 13th in M55 who did same course. Thats the way the cookie crumbles sometimes. I didn't notice most of the paved tracks on the map. Confused me so much and I just couldn't figure things out.
One of these tracks I only noticed while looking at routegadget at home.
So I defended the 3 M50 Irish champion titles from last year. I couldn't defend H12 relay though.
Particularly pleased to add my name to the illustrious list on the Colin Dunlop Trophy. A founder member of Setanta Orienteers, and the first Setanta member to win it.
As for the relay. I set high standards and I wish we had more time to achieve those standards. (another month)
But considering where we came from, with the map, planning delays, it was an extraordinary well done job. Zoƫ played a blinder as well, as she did some essential prep work, such as number placement, circle cutting etc in time for the printer, while Neil and myself with frazzled brains from course planning and time in the woods, recovered.
