Really need min 15 minute warmup

Orienteering race (NIOC) 45:56 [5] 7.81 km (5:53 / km)
shoes: xtalon2014

This was a struggle, Ran some legs well, but was poor on a few. Mentally I was not detached from JHI and Zoë was not happy when she finished.

Needed to use magnifier a lot with the 1:10,000 scale which disrupts the running rhythm and avoiding using magnifier on long legs was costly. Won my class. Will compare splits with Niamh☀ to see where I was poor. At end I reckoned about 4 minutes dropped, but on reflection, it may have been more.

Also did a bad job avoiding fences many of which were not easily crossed because of wobbly stakes. Got snagged in one and took a while to extricate myself.

Started out winging it as to see the detail I needed to slow down and use magnifier. Although I dropped a little time at 3 & 4, this approach was fine till 10 & 11. Passed Routhe just before 9, but she got 11 before me.

There after slowed down and used magnifier. Had trouble at 18 as the map was brown so was expecting a veg difference, many had issues at 19, me included, slightly off for 20. If I practiced what I preached day before to juniors about reading control descriptions, I wouldn't have lost time at 26.

Planner was mean sending us to 28...again, but managed joint fastest split

An enjoyable gallop.
