Orienteering race 1:26:15 [3] *** 7.6 km (11:21 / km)
spiked:16/17c

Ran Red Course at Wheaton Regional Park, Wheaton, MD.

Visited Vidya's place for the weekend. Went to DC to see Cherry Blossom Festival. Weekend weather was cooler compared to earlier in the week. Temps in upper 40s and a bit windy.

Vidya and I went to the park around 12:15PM. Lots of people, and we had to stand in line for registration. Vidya went on White Course right before I start on Red. This park is very small and it reminded me of Iron Hill Park in DE. Nice course and lots of trail/road options. The Green areas are not that bad. Lots of hills. I ran in black Reebok shoes, which I never used for running as they are a bit tight and I strained my ankle between #5 and #6. Had to sit down and remove the show to adjust the foot for 2 mins or so. After that I jogged slow for most of the remaining course.

Did not have any difficulty in finding controls.

Another leisurely run (same route as Sunday's) on a gorgeous day. Temps around 55F when I got out around 5:30PM; little windy but very sunny. Going West on Pumping Station facing sun was very nice!

Running 38:46 [3] 4.2 mi (9:14 / mi)
shoes: Reebok2 - red stripe

3 loops at the park.

Dropped Hema at the library at 7:05PM before the run. Sun was just setting, when I started. By the time I finished, it was just getting dark.

Right at the end, a lady left 3 dogs (2 big ones and the other a small one) out of leash and I had to slow down and then come to a complete stop. The big dogs were still coming at me and I had to shout at them and pretend to pick up a rock to scare them off. I asked the lady to call the dogs back and she was in no hurry to do so !!

Anyway, my first loop was fast and the other two slower:
