Had some small mistakes here and there, too high for #1 and ran right by #3 and #4 without realising. Only one on W18 so it was nice to not have to try push myself running wise and focused on trying to get the navigation right. Enjoyed it and a really nice day.

UCD Sprint, Long, 2.1km

Mainly clean and think I was running decently enough. All my routes were good apart from maybe left around the lake to #3. Having trouble reading the map on the shorter more detailed legs so going to try wear my contacts for the next few events. Was wondering how I had the fasted split to #12, only just realised I went through an uncrossable hedge, not an excuse but saw the person ahead of me who I was trying to catch do it and just kind of instinctively followed without checking, oops..

Made mistakes at the start, for #2 I exited the first control badly and ended up going right around the uncrossable area, not sure if you were supposed to go left because of how the line was or not. Couldn't find #3, got very close but missed it, but a lot of people seemed to make mistakes here, and too high for #4. After that my navigation was clean, legs felt really heavy so was struggling to run towards the end and walked most of the uphills.

JK Long, Bigland - 6.9km, W18E, 23rd

In general a lot better than yesterday because I actually had some half decent legs but still had some big mistakes and lost a lot of time. Took #1 and #2 slowly and got them fine. Lost about 8 mins on #3 as I was too far left and couldn't figure out where I was. Lost time on #9, just wasn't concentrating. The longer leg, #11, actually went ok, little inaccurate in the final 50m or so. Too low for #14, used the fence below it and the scale threw me a little. #16 was a disaster, I thought I saw the track that was just beyond the control but I think a bit of a track had just formed from people running from #16 to the last control.

Overall a poor JK, happy with my sprint result but the middle and long were more of a lesson than anything else. Looking forward to getting back into it and doing as much orienteering as I can before IOC next month.

JK Middle, Ulpha Park and Barrow Fell, W18E, 27th

I knew from the past few Leinster Leagues that I haven't been orienteering very well recently so when this turned out to be a complete disaster I wasn't too surprised. Forced myself to take it slow to #1 but I was too high, panicked a bit and lost a lot of time. Next two controls were a bit messy but thankfully no major mistakes. Too high for #4, I'm not too sure what I was doing but I was clearly not reading my map because I was way off. Very inaccurate and not very focused for the next few up until #10 but I managed. Ran right by #10 and didn't see it so lost more time there. The rest was quite dodgy and I was honestly just very glad to be finished the course and to try figure out what went so wrong.

JK Sprint - Lancaster University, W18E, 5th

Flowed well through the first section in the student accommodation and up until #15. Dropped some time to #16 by exiting #15 the wrong way, and then backtracking and taking a slightly longer route. After that I had some hesitations and had to stop at one or two controls to plan routes but overall I think it went well & happy with my result.
