Note

garmin has been playing up recently - has started discharging unless it's plugged in and now when I try to upload it doesn't recognise the file format, so everything from this weekend and possibly for the next while is going to be guesswork
10 AM

Trail/Terrain warm up/down 6:50 [3] 1.0 km (6:50 / km)
shoes: inov8 trailroc 245 Dec14

arrived to car park a minute before my start, still needed a 12 minute bus and 1 run to get to the start, so took it easy because I was never going to make it anyway

Orienteering race 1:13:57 [4] *** 13.0 km (5:41 / km)
spiked:20/22c shoes: inov8 trailroc 245 Dec14

OK Nuts Trophy, Winterfold and Pitch Hill - Black
Not very much to say about this - I made 3 mistakes, one was in direction, about 15s, one was in trying to go around the wrong side of a bush and getting stuck about 5s, and the last was not counting paths correctly and getting confused, about 30s. Apart from that it was clean and very steady.
Really nice area, bracken was quite high but not too bad. I liked the course planning - it gave a fair bit of route choice
1st, 4 mins ahead.

Trail/Terrain warm up/down 4:00 [3] 0.5 km (8:00 / km) +40m 5:43 / km
shoes: inov8 trailroc 245 Dec14

just about made it to the start on time

Orienteering race 1:08:52 [3] 9.7 km (7:06 / km) +220m 6:23 / km
spiked:11/20c shoes: inov8 trailroc 245 Dec14

Southern Night Champs. Holmbury Hill, Short Brown course

Made about 4-5 mins mistake just to the first control, 2-3 on number 6, and some really bad direction errors all over the place. The bracken was very high and it was quite dark, culminating in a really quite bad run. Still first M18 though, as all the squad were running blue

leg still sore, so no training today. Went to the nurse, who gave me some ice packs and said she'd get me a physio appointment over the weekend if it was still bad.
