Ngodwana Sprint.

Stupid route through the rough to #2 losing 30secs and then 3/4 5ish sec mistakes/non optimimal routes.

Really not in Sprint mode at the moment though, much too hesitant on the shorter legs.

Battery creek o

Legs feeling a bit tired after yesterday, so wasn't moving very fast at all. Nav was okay, just not quite the flow I had yesterday and then stuffed around at #22 and lost 2min or so (though apparently it was slightly in the wrong place).

Brown course. Couple of 10-30ish sec mistakes (#6+8mostly), but pretty decent nav otherwise. Just hit a bit of a wall on the climbs to #11 and #13 (think the altitude and fast start began to catch up with me), so just had a nice recovery walk so Id have a bit of energy for the last part.

Nothing like a bit of night o in the rockery to expose all the flaws in your o technique.
Easy first 5 around town/at the edge of the rockery.
Planned on going around the south to #6, but turned in too early and ended up going through the middle and then taking my time trying to find the control..(45secs)
7, slow and bad angle out of 6 (10secs)
,8,9 okay- just very cautious and very slow.
Caught Eugene at 9 and preceded to try run too fast and got pulled left by some bushes that looked like rocks (30secs)
11- chilled (easy+had eugenes light to follow)
12- was a bit far right and realised pretty quickly, but turned in 1 set of rocks too early and took ages to realise what I'd done.. (1:30)
13-fine
14- hit the further south path and thought I'd hit the other, so went in too high (30secs)
15- wrong side of the boulder (10secs)
16- fine
17- attempted to follow the stream and somehow came out at the control (a lot of luck)
18- bad bearing out of 17 (10secs)
19,20,21- okay.

So 4ish min of mistakes, but I'd expect a min or 2 in this terrain at night, so would've been happy enough without #5 and #12's mistakes. Still felt very slow on majority of them though. Not much confidence into any besides the town ones.

Went and ran the medium.

Fine besides for #7 where the control had been pushed into the ground and I spent 5ish min trying to find it.

In Kaapsehoop :)

Went for a bit of a run around the rockery with the hound. Took a blue course map from last year's event and did a few controls ending at the viewpoint, then just some nice trail and offtrail running along the SE escarpment and back to the road.

Had Luca on the lead for the 1st bit, but kept kicking him by mistake in the technical sections where he had to run behind me, so let him off and he was actually great (Also seems to have way more energy/motivation when he's off lead).

*note* I do realise the event tomorrow is in the rockery, but seeming it's a fun event I assume it's not embargoed? And if it is I'm happy to be non competitive :p

Back in the forest again.

Legs feeling almost normal again. Very sluggish still, but not too sore.

From Dean street, into the forest via bike path and subway, then pretty much 2 oceans 2nd half until bottom of snakebite, then back the normal way.
