Big 5 O day 5- Lowveld Botanical gardens sprint (1:4000)
Had a reasonable race, but struggled quite a bit with the tricky path network and not reading ahead enough which caused me to lose about 1:30 (mostly on #1, #16 and #19).

Finished 4th overall and 1st South African in the Big5, so pretty happy with that. ( Didn't really have any amazing runs, but was able to do consistently on nearly all the days ).

Nice run around Lower Sabie camp in Kruger. Just kinda made up a route as I went along, legs were feeling pretty good :)

Possibly the worst race I have ever run, navigation was just shocking, lost close to 40min.

Control collecting, wish my navigation was as good in the race as it was collecting.

Jog back to the house after control collecting.

Big 5 O day 2- Elandshoogte (1:10000)WRE Middle
Reasonable race, running felt really good today, but made too many nav errors to do really well.
#1-3 -ok
#4- went too high up and had to go down the re-entrant (30secs)
#5-ok
#6- went too far east of the control to a similar feature (1min)
#7- went past the control and into the green stuff to the NE of it (1:30)
#8- had planned on crossing the green at the marked crossing point, but went up too early and spent ages fighting through the green. (1min)
#9+10- ok
#11- stopped a bit early + was hesitant into the control ( 15secs)
#12- ok
#13- came up too early (15secs)
#14+15- ok
#16- got pulled off by another control and took a while to re-locate (seems to be quite a few features missing from the map here) (2min)
#17-19- ok
So about 6-7min of mistakes in total.

Walked the metrogaine with my sister in the morning and did a walk to the lookout to see the sunset, but no proper training.

Big 5 O day 2- Battery creek (1:15000) WRE Long distance.
Had a good race navigation wise ( probably lost about 8min total-including bad route choices)- (probably helped by the fact that Roark and I were together for about half the course), but the fitness wasn't quite there for the last few kilometres and I lost plenty of time because of that (probably about 10min). Still pretty happy with the result (4th out of about 30- of which only 19 managed to finish).

Probably the most complex map I have run on in South Africa (the mist also helped make it even more technical)
Started off and finished off well, but stuffed up really badly in the middle. Probably close to 20min lost.
