orienteering race 1:59:00 [3] 16.0 km (7:26 / km) +300m 6:48 / km
shoes: inov8 O-rock 280

Belfast day 2 in the Langkloof area. Had a really rubbish race! Ok for #1 and 2, stuffed up 3 badly with a few others- didn't go far enough+ then got myself completely confused as to where I was. 4 and 5 were fine, then stuffed up 6 really badly- headed too far left+ then stopped way too short and searched for ages, not being able to relocate properly. 7-10 were ok, stuffed up 11- went too far right+ too far past to some other clearings+ took a while to work out wat I'd done wrong. 12-15 were fine, messed up 16 a bit- came out just to the left of it and then kept on going left trying to find it. Stuffed up 17- stopped too short in an area with lots of unmapped rocks/rubble thinking it was the area the control was in. 18-20 were fine.
Overall a really terrible race for me, although the ankle was feeling reasonable which is good.
Estimated the distance, probably a bit further in the end. Course distance was 12.7

orienteering 49:00 [3] 7.0 km (7:00 / km) +70m 6:40 / km
shoes: inov8- x-talons 212

Orienteering race at Middeldam. Took it pretty easy due to injured ankle+Tania suggested I try use it more as a training exercise than a race, so I did map memory for every second control (run until attackpoint+ then navigate from there again) and visualisation for every other control ( navigate for about half of leg, then visualise control circle+ run the rest without the map) made a few mistakes (#1, 6, 9, 11, 15) totalling about 4min, but could cut most of these out if reading map normally. Finished 12min behind mike. Will try to race properly tomorrow+ compete better.

orienteering race 11:55 [3] * 2.5 km (4:46 / km) +50m 4:20 / km
spiked:12/14c shoes: inov8- x-talons 212

Orienteering schools leauge #4 at Delta Park. Not very fast because of my ankle, so not pushing full out.
10sec mistake to #2 ( took wrong path into control)
10secs on #6 ( went round the rougher area instead of through because of the ankle) not really any other mistakes. Pretty easy navigation with lots of time to plan ahead.
5 PM
