Red at Big Basin. Big Basin is a beautiful park, but it destroyed me today. Still, it was a lot of fun. The map is a bit imperfect in parts, but the real problem was my navigating. I was tremendously out of practice. It's been about a year since I've orienteered. I slowly remembered how to do it as I went along, but I got lost on many controls and had to relocate several times. The terrain is tough, very steep, huge downed redwoods to go over or under, and lots of junk on the ground. Every relocation cost me a lot of time and effort. Also I apparently mispunched on 18 when I found a control on the right feature in about the right place but apparently it was the wrong control. But I'm glad I went, lots of fun, it was good to get out especially to such a great park that baoc doesn't often get to.
