Orienteering race 1:48:01 [3] *** 6.5 km (16:37 / km) +345m 13:08 / km
16c

Red at Sunol with Misha and Russell. I felt like I was in better shape but I don't think I beat my pace from last time, frustrating. It was a brutally hot day, upper 80s. The course was quite nice actually, kept to the trees and cut down on climb as much as is possible at Sunol.
I did make one mistake on 6 where I turned around while climbing a steep hill because I thought I had overshot. That one hurt.

Running 42:25 [3] 4.3 mi (9:52 / mi) +200m 8:37 / mi
shoes: blue Mizuno WN 2

Rancho San Antonio. Though I lost to last week's time by a little, I think it should count as a victory since it was so hot today.

Running 42:10 [3] 4.3 mi (9:48 / mi) +200m 8:34 / mi
shoes: blue Mizuno WN 2

Rancho San Antonio. Beat last week's time by 2 and a half min. Probably much of that is psychological, but I definitely felt in better shape.

Orienteering race 1:40:08 [2] ** 6.6 km (15:10 / km) +255m 12:43 / km
16c

Red at Joe Grant. Got Jason and Misha to come out with me for a beautiful day. My first orienteering probably since summer in sweden with Boris.
It was a slow run for me, mostly limited by my physical shape although even my map reading was rusty. I made one mistake, on 7, where I thought there was no way they meant us to be doing as much scrambling along the sides of cliffs and through brush and poison oak so I stopped and even turned back to reorient. Of course, I was in the right place, I just hadn't gone far enough. Ultimately, it took two people running by me before I went on and then it was just 5 meters farther. Ah well, this will come back to me. Otherwise, no mistakes, just slow running. Now I really hurt.

Running 44:51 [2] 4.3 mi (10:26 / mi) +200m 9:07 / mi
shoes: blue Mizuno WN 2

Rancho San Antonio. Even though legs hurt from soccer I was definitely cardio limited. I only lost about 2 min from last time I did this run though.

A beautiful day.
