Jemez Mountain Trail Run
Another awesome race! I felt great almost all the way around. The hills were killer and I power hiked most all of them, and I do mean power hiked. I was passing people all the time on the hills. Actually on the flats and downhills too because I started out nice and easy and within my heart beat range.
There was only one guy who passed me in the last mile because once I hit the last aid station at about 1.5 miles to go, I totally ran out of energy. Until then I had been on pace to run a sub 7 hour 50km which for me is awesome! Especially given the amount of climb involved in this course.
Monday as I post this I'm a bit sore, definitely hungry but otherwise unaffected. I'm still going to wait until Wednesday before I run just to get enough rest in.
This race is the end of my long distance spring racing season. Now comes high altitude 14ers and shorter cross country races until the Fall racing season whcih once again is stacking up with an average of one race per weekend for 8-10 weeks straight! Awesomeness...
