Forgot to put on my HR monitor. :(
Disappointing run on Red course. I felt good on most controls and had good navigation. Unfortunately when I got to #12 I could not find the control despite finding the ribbon marker for it. I went up and down the reentrant with no success and moved on. Apparently, the control was further up the reentrant. I think I would have looked more if I had not seen the ribbon clearly where the control was defined to be.
There were some nice legs but some were just thrashing through green.
Overall, I am just not conditioned enough to do red well. Today I knew where I wanted to go, I just had a hard time moving myself... and after #12, I lost some spark.
I need to start noting which shoes work best for each map. I find sometimes the rubber cleats grip better on rock than the metal but when the rock is wet, metal does better. Rubber cleats suck on wet wood but are great in open forest.
I wore metal today and think it was a good choice as the shoe is also more substantial and sportive.
Along that line - I should also note which maps are brier riddled. I used duct tape on my thighs and it actually worked. The only gouges from thorns are across my stomach and chest. I will be doing this more often.
