slept:8.0 (rest day)

Lazy day. Watched movies and went for a walk around the neighborhood.

Skipped the gym per KT's request and my approval upon receiving a massage. Good trade.

Oddly enough my right arch feels a little better but I now feel the same pain on the outside of my left arch. Really don't know the cause or meaning of this. Rest day should help. May or may not get in a run tomorrow.

This was a Score-O but was structured so that if you got the controls in numerical order you got 2 points for each control. Any controls not captured in numerical order were only 1 point.

Very dissappointing run today. Had trouble picking a route to the second control and then had trouble following the route I chose. I had a lot more trouble later in with several points when trying to cross over spurs. It seemed there were a lot of reentrants that didn't show up on the map and it was causing me trouble.

I got the first 8 controls and then passed control 9. I knew I wouldn't have enough time to capture the rest of the controls in order so I scrapped 9 and got the rest on my way back to the finish. I probably could have done better by not getting the rest of the points but I wanted to get as many as possible so I just ignored the rules and competition.

Was dissappointed with the run but still good to get out. My legs still are not in shape and the outside of my right arch was very sore and it hurt to run on it.

My parents were in town and did the Yellow course.

Controls 7 and 13 were switched.

Note

Walked around the Tidal Basin with KT and parents (~2.5 miles). Cherry Blossoms are blooming and it was pretty. Checked out some of the monuments including the new MLK Jr monument. Makes you feel good to see what this country has done.

Run home from McLean with Baxter. There was a light rain when we started but it stopped shortly into the run. By the time we got home the skies cleared a little and it was a nice spring evening. A little wet but some green in the trees and some blooming as well.

Kept the pace pretty slow and steady. Took the whole run to digest the cheese steak I had for lunch.

Justinya canceled our MTB ride in Lorton this evening so I decided to ride to work today instead of tomorrow and avoid the potential thunderstorms. Will also allow me to fit in a run tomorrow instead. Dissappointed I won't get to ride MTB.

Ride to work. Was able to really wake my legs up about halfway through and have a stronger morning ride than usual.
5 PM

Commuting 50:57 intensity: (36 @0) + (1:16 @1) + (4:25 @2) + (30:53 @3) + (13:47 @4) 16.36 mi (19.3 mph) +950ft
ahr:154 max:168 shoes: Answer Impact MTB

Ride Home. Didn't wait at ANY lights but did have to slow down for a few and work around a few. I should have had to wait at 50 for 3 minutes but I was able to sneak through when someone wasn't paying attention to the green left turn arrow. I could have been faster but I wasn't feeling it quite as much as last Friday.
7 PM

Trail Running (Some Paved) 46:29 intensity: (15 @0) + (1:30 @1) + (13:58 @2) + (30:17 @3) + (29 @4) 5.64 mi (8:14 / mi) +316ft 7:50 / mi
ahr:145 max:161 shoes: Asics 2110

Run around the neighborhood and trails with Baxter. Legs felt pretty good but had to work with Baxter a little. Pace was a little slower than I would have hoped for that effort.

Stretching 20:00 [0]

Note

Surprisingly, I was not very hungry at dinner. Had a banana and juice after my run but I couldn't eat any carbs just meat and veggies. Was eventually able to eat some ice cream and cupcakes for dessert. Attributing this to eating a lot of pasta for lunch and not finishing my workout until after 8.

Ride to work. 55 degrees.
5 PM

Commuting 53:54 intensity: (54 @0) + (2:32 @1) + (4:36 @2) + (18:41 @3) + (27:11 @4) 16.31 mi (18.2 mph) +950ft
ahr:155 max:171 shoes: Answer Impact MTB

Ride home. 70+ degrees. It was hot enough. Worked hard. Heart rate was higher than I'd expect. Don't know where that came from. Legs were still just a little sore. Spent most of my stopped time at 50 and 29 as usual.

Note
(rest day)

Ended up being a rest day.

KT had blisters all over her feet and needed to be picked up from work so no run and that also meant no gym.

Dissappointed I didn't get another solid run in. The next four days will be bike heavy.
