Ride out and back to Leesburg (Rt 15) on the W&OD with Kristin. Took road bikes. Double wide on the way out and I pulled on the way back. Carried my running shoes.

Dew point finally under 70. Nice and cool at the start but started pouring sweat later on. Large tree down right when I got on the trail.

Stopped for a quick easy run at Lake Fairfax. Went out on the South Trail. Tried to make it up to the creek to come back but couldn't find the right trails. Even did some shwacking to try and make it.

Ran the last 10 minutes on my own. Kristin had to head home to the kids. Had trouble finding some of the trails that were on the map. It wasn't very helpful.

Run at Marshall HS. Misplanned my run home from the metro. Had to take the bus home and run from here instead.

The rain had just stopped :-( but it was still a bit cooler and humid. Some breeze though. The fields were pretty soaked and slow but I hadn't ran there in a while. They were also torn up some for construction. Looks like they are adding track lanes and redoing the baseball field. Lots of mud.

Run home from EFC. Explored Brandymore Castle (not really a castle just a rocky hill) first in order to map and see all the trails. Map looks almost like a bowl of spaghetti.

Then made my way to Haycock. Used the W&OD horse path some and the rest on Great Falls which had no shoulder at times and I had to wait to cross Haycock. Ran home on the trails from there.

Pace was fairly easy. 85F and 75DP when I started. I think the temp dropped a little but still humid.

One insanely exact parallel error that I almost didn't make but then thought I was about to pass the point and turned around. Turned out I should have kept going. Only lost 5 mins which was negligible since we couldn't have started the paddle any earlier.

Rode at Gamelands and Big Pocono again. Started and ended at the cabin this time. Rode quite a bit more singletrack today but it was more enjoyable. Still some very technical and rocky sections but better flow. Didn't have much overlap from the other day.

Spent a lot more time stopping to look at the map this time (~30 min) with lots more trail intersections and route options. Got lost right off the bat. Checked my compass at the wrong time. Should have used it a bit more. Thought the singletrack had grown over at about mile 7. Ended up seeing the trailhead a bit further down the road. Also was careful looking for the trail at mile 12. Backtracked twice to look for it. The rail trail leading into Camelback was pretty bad. Singletrack from 22-24 was a great find. It wasn't on my map.

A light rain started about 3 hours in. Didn't really become a problem until I got on the road on the way back to the house.

Lehigh Gorge Rail Trail with KT and Dad. Pace was slow and steady with a few shorts stops on the way up. Led a nice paceline on the way back down. Significant difference down as opposed to up. Climbed a surprising 275ft up the trail.

Hike with Dad and KT around Big Pocono State Park. We accessed the park via a pipeline straight up the mountain to a rail trail. Good use of maps. Using Dad's GPS was a bonus.

Hike started with a 1000 ft climb and then we walked around up top to check out the views before a steady descent.

Started off trying to find the rail trail through Camelback. Unsuccesful, and ended up riding on the slopes and doing some bikewhacking. Eventually got back to the trail and flew for a few minutes. At the end of the rail trail pushed my bike up the mountain and then spent the next 70 minutes doing 5 miles on an extremely rocky and technical trail. Typical Pennsylvania trail. It was mostly rideable but I did have to walk several sections, especially the section along the creek and some of the climb back up the ridge. The trail was pretty neat though and good training. Just not a "fun" ride. Think I would ride it in the opposite direction next time. There were a lot of trails around to be explored but the map I had kept me on track.

Spent the last hour exploring the trails on the plateau in the Game Lands. Some rooty singletrack, rocky roads, and dirt roads as well. Looking forward to coming back to the plateau later in the week for some more exploring. Don't know that I'll venture down the rocky trail again though.

Net elevation gain of 800+ft. Watch died just after I stopped the workout. About 15 min of stoppage time.

First run of vacation. Warm and sunny. Did the Millstone Trails again. Added the loop through Roosevelt. Scout trails were great. My nature posts are still standing strong. Trails was a bit rough just after crossing Rochdale. The road run back was blah. Think I may double back on the trail and explore some other options to reduce the time on the road.

Legs have felt heavy and slow all week. Really struggled on the small uphills at the end. Planning to rest tomorrow.
