Swimming 40:00 [2]

Faffing around doing technique stuff and a timed 400m... a shocking 11:10. I'm just not a natural dolphin.

New Forest non-orienteering

Splash around Hamptworth trying to keep warm in the woods/on higher ground. Turned out sunny in the end but must have been a really difficult decision for the November Classic organising team given the biting winds and flooding. Not sure any risk assessment would make it seem sensible to let runners prepared for a standard orienteering event to tackle swollen streams and 3 degree temperatures and come back with hypothermia.

WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE I love caffeine....

Ahem. Well. Anyway. Southampton urban. Great course - part old town, part complicated flyover bits. Didn't see a couple of the better long route choices and ended up on the wrong section of the flyover but other than that a reasonable run. Getting quicker.

Though that may have been courtesy of a large latte from Costa.

Llantrisant Forest - windmills and back

Hmm. GPS fail. There's a bit of a climb, but 668m? I did an out and back route, and it reckoned I'd followed two separate paths. And that I'd done a shorter distance on the way back. Hmm.

Anyways, GPS was the least of my problems. Mental note. It gets dark by half 5 in the forest. Very dark. Make sure head torch is charged. The last couple of km were spent gingerly making my way down the hill wishing I'd eaten more carrots.
