Lakes 5 Days, day 5
More mistakes today, too tired so lacked focus and struggled physically, didn't enjoy it as much as the rest of the week but parts went well and were enjoyable.

Running warm up/down 3:00 [2] 0.5 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212 #2

very short warm up, not much space near the start and I'd already done the 2km with 400m climb walk to the start...

Orienteering 51:23 [4] 6.87 km (7:29 / km) +260m 6:17 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212 #2

Lakes 5 Days, day 4
Amazing area, so much fun! Finally had a good run except for one mistake, dropped too low on number 11, not that bad a mistake but I lost a lot of time because it was a steep climb back up to the control, lost 2-3 minutes but otherwise I nailed it!
3rd on w21, still on the way up!

Running warm up/down 10:41 [2] 1.9 km (5:37 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212 #2

run back down the hill from the finish, very steep and rocky so couldn't go very fast but it was so much fun :)

S&C (core) 30:00 [2]
(rest day)

rest day, would have loved a long run up some hill but I needed a rest so I went for a walk and did some core instead which I haven't done since before JWOC, also did lots of stretching and rolling which I haven't done much of recently...

Tuesday Aug 5, 2014 #

10 AM

Running warm up/down 5:00 [2] 0.8 km (6:15 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212 #2

warm up
took my garmin and HR monitor out of my bag to check if the HR monitor was working (it wasn't and I need a very small screwdriver to change the battery) and forgot to put it back in my bag so no garmin today

Orienteering 1:07:57 [4] 6.5 km (10:27 / km) +270m 8:39 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212 #2

Lakes 5 Days, day 3
More focused than the previous day but still lacking a lot of focus, made a few mistakes but got all the controls this time which was the aim! Area not as nice as I thought it would be and a lot of green but I still enjoyed it although my legs were lacking the previous day's bounce.
5th on w21 so improving...

Running warm up/down 5:00 [2] 0.8 km (6:15 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212 #2

warm down

Monday Aug 4, 2014 #

10 AM

Running warm up/down 11:07 [2] 1.76 km (6:19 / km) +21m 5:58 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212 #2

proper warm up, mostly because I got to the start early, no heart rate apparently...

Orienteering 42:34 [4] 4.35 km (9:47 / km) +130m 8:31 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212 #2

Lakes 5 days, day 2
It was a disaster but I had a great time! First proper run since JWOC and I felt good, the area was great and the white was runnable so I was loving life but I got a bit carried away! Made some mistakes by running and forgetting to orienteer and missed number 8 completely! I went straight from 7 to 9, thinking I was going from 8 to 9 and didn't realise until I downloaded but it does explain why I couldn't find number 9 and shows my lack of focus! Anyway I had fun!
dns, mp, I'm on the way up...

Running warm up/down 7:22 [2] 1.12 km (6:35 / km) +8m 6:21 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212 #2

jog back from the finish

Sunday Aug 3, 2014 #

Note
(rest day)

First day of the Lakes 5 days but I didn't run as I was really ill the previous evening, unsure whether to run as I felt fine in the morning but I didn't have any food left in me so I probably wouldn't have made it round! On the bright side my cold seems to have cleared up.
