Trying to run back to work gently again. Stamina is no issue but my calves won't stop hurting. No numbness, just dull pain. Probably just need a day or two rest.. Lots of distance recently and change in style. Jumped on a bike in Shadwell. Hardly faster, but no pain

From Work to Waitrose Canary Wharf (st Paul's - monument - tower hill - cs3 to limehouse - Thames path). Felt good early and very springy but then I ran low on energy (no food since 1:30) and calves went tight (just the usual pain, nothing major)

Today is Tuesday, not Thursday, and the Street-O is on Thursday, not Tuesday. Hence an empty pub in Barking (Let's call in "Recon")... At least it was only 20mins away, and as I was out already I headed to Mile End Stadium instead (something I'm sure I wouldn't have done otherwise, don't recall track running since once/twice at school races).

Did four sets of 4 x 400m, with 1-min break between each 400m, and 3-mins between each set. Add to that 2x800m warm up/ down and stretching either end.

Originally set the target for 90s per lap (=3:45mpk), but I check the first two laps at half way, and despite slowing down did two 86s, so decided on sub 85s (sub 3:32 mpk). If I couldn't hold it, then at least I'd learn something.

Splits:
Set 1 - 86, 86, 85, 85
Set 2 - 85, 84, 84, 84
Set 3 - 83, 84, 84, 84
Set 4 - 84, 84, 83, 80

Felt good. Managing to just hold the pace but still feeling at the limit. Kicked on the last 200m but was shattered thereafter. Positive feeling

Not feeling great for this easy one. Everything ok apart for the lower calves, but they are all tense which is preventing me from running loosely and in form. All a bit of a heavy slog

Woke up this morning in some pain. Shoulder quite sore and stiff. Hence a slow run. Legs were fine (not even sore towards the end), but the shoulder was giving me grief the whole way round. Also noticed the lack of stretching this week in general. Pushed it one bridge further to up the distance (also interesting to see the F231 preparing to leave docking at the HMS Belfast). Took a gel at 11k

Blackwall - Greenwich - Thames Path - Stave Hill Park - Thames Path - London Bridge - Wapping Ornamental Canal - round Limehouse Basin - through Canary Wharf

A mixed week then... disappointing to not get the tempo run in due to the US trip (and partly the shoulder issue), but with that exception I've still managed to keep the rhythm going, which is good. First session on the plan missed so far
