Orienteering race (Harvester Relay 2012) 1:17:13 [5] 12.4 km (6:14 / km)
(injured) shoes: Brooks Ghost 4

Official distance: 9.6km, 90m climb

Sloppy is probably the best way to describe my own run! But we came 2nd as a team and one the small club trophy.

Left knee slightly swollen, stiff and painful again now... No more running until at least Thursday

More stretching today... calf still hurts but getting better

Note
(rest day)

Knees don't seem to be hurting too much today, which is good. Did some stretches this morning to loosen up.

Right calf has a numb pain in it half-way up (knot? tear?) which hurts particularly when I step down and put my weight on the leg. Been there since Saturday, pre-sprint!

Orienteering race (Bishop's Park Parkrace) 30:04 [5] 6.3 km (4:46 / km)
(injured) shoes: Brooks Ghost 4

Official distance 4.5k. Distance taken from Dimitri's Garmin (forgot mine)

Mixed race. Seemed to go ok overall, but lots of smaller errors, and a significant loss of pace during the 2nd half as my left knee started playing up again. Angus was chasing me and every time I looked around he was getting closer (luckily he'd missed a control).

Errors:
#1 - #2 taking the road left for 15m before doubling back
#3 - #4 switching across before the control 20m too early, adding distance
#6 - #7 thinking of going through the light green, which was 5ft stinging nettles so ended up round the path
#9 - #10 pre-planned 3 ahead and did not spot the stairs and diagonal across the field, went across the pond instead
#10 - #11 thought the wall was un-crossable, went round, it wasn't
#21 - #22 overshot looking for a bench, it was the stairs
#28 - #29 tried to go in a locked gate, lost a couple of seconds
#30 - #F tried to go in a locked gate, lost a couple of seconds

As the above shows, not a clean run at all, and at least a minute (maybe more?) lost over many smaller errors. Still managed to avoid the big traps around #14 and #15, so not too bad. 7th place is worth some good points!

Great course! Well done Libby and Vince!
