Running warm up/down 9:00 [1] 1.5 km (6:00 / km) +14m 5:44 / km
ahr:132 max:142

To the start with Heather.

Orienteering 1:25:50 [3] 10.45 km (8:13 / km) +130m 7:44 / km
ahr:145 max:165

SoSOL at Calder Wood, Brown.
Started with Heather which was fun :) We had the same no 1 and I was a bit hesitant, hadn't really read the map properly and realised how close to the bank it was. Bit hesitant to 2 as well, got to trust my compass more. Decided to go round the path to 3 as I wasn't sure what it would be like. Lace came undone at 7 so had to pause to retie. Started going a bit wrong at 8 when I started to catch a guy up. Started to look for 8 and 9 too early, I knew I was wrong but still carried on and so lost at least 60s. Went absolutely flying on the bluebells at 11 but luckily landed ok. Think I was a bit dehydrated and started feeling awful around 12 and from then just felt fat, slow and couldn't really concentrate. Too far N for 15 again didn't use compass enough. Bit off on 19 as well, wasn't sure where I was on the path so went in and was too far N.Took a v bad route to 22, should have just run round the path again, but decided to go straight and got a bit stuck beside the river. Also messed up the last one, thought it was down on the level of the river but it was higher up the bank. I did see it but thought it wasn't mine and faffed for a bit before realising it was mine and went back. V poor 90s (?) lost. In total probs lost 3 or 4 mins.
Really need to take more time to read the map and stay in control the whole time even if I have to stand still.

Running 40:57 [2] 6.5 km (6:18 / km) +65m 6:00 / km
ahr:136 max:173 shoes: Asics GT2000

Had wanted to get out earlier but Garmin wasn't charged so waited, it did mean it was nice and sunny when I went though. Felt like an absolute blob and ankle and knee were niggly but plodded round.

Orienteering 41:00 [3] 4.38 km (9:22 / km) +340m 6:45 / km
ahr:154 max:178

It's World Orienteering Day so got the bus out to Hillend with Saz to do the local event. It was a score course for the 'experienced' people. Decided to get the big climb out of the way first and headed round the W side of the ski slope and up to the top. Then snaked my way round the rest trying to do as little climb as possible. Only slight issues were heading out of 209 the wrong way and getting trapped in some gorse, and getting a bit confused at 226 when I saw another control v nearby and got pulled off. Otherwise nav was fine. Tight calves and a sore L ankle on the slopes were stopping me from going all out but overall not feeling too bad physically.

Note

When every session in the last week has involved the phrase "feeling tired" it's time for a break. Also didn't feel like training so I didn't.

L Knee a bit sore after the weekend. Not sure if I jarred it or whether it's overuse but will keep an eye.

On another note. Wondering if I have a mild allergy to something as I have had a blocked/runny nose for like 2 months. It comes and goes with how bad it is and at first I thought it was a cold but I don't really have any other symptoms. Not sure I can do anything about it though, just a bit frustrating that I haven't felt really good on a run or in a race for a v long time.
