Note
(rest day)

Travelling home.
Really good trip, lots of orienteering and lots of lessons learnt. Ok at the Swiss I did short and at OO-Cup NFK was probs not trying very hard but was still nice to see that training does pay off and definitely helps give me some motivation coming up to the next winter of training.

Running warm up/down 10:00 [1]

Orienteering race 47:09 [4] 5.17 km (9:07 / km) +114m 8:13 / km
ahr:171 max:188

OO-Cup Day 5
Last day and I knew it was shorter again and I had the hang of the terrain and maybe I could be closer to Nicoline Friberg Klysner. Picked up the map and it was my type of course, straight into a control pick and running that wasn't too difficult. Was going well but was aware of a guy right behind me from 2 onwards. On the way to 6 he actually said to me "you don't mind if I follow you do you?"... But I managed to drop him at 6. Didn't expect him to just suddenly stop though and so was then a bit distracted and messed up 8 losing at least 1 min. Arggg! Picked it back up again and then only lost time in the circle at 14 when there were so many boulders I didn't know which one was mine. Also got stuck climbing over a log to the last control, very elegant... In the end I came second by 47s. Pretty frustrating but I was closer than I ever thought I would be and much better than every other day. Nice to see that I do still have it in me somewhere.

Running warm up/down 10:00 [1]

Orienteering race 1:13:44 [3] 5.49 km (13:26 / km) +163m 11:42 / km
ahr:151 max:178

OO-Cup Day 4
Such a technical area! Was running well until 4 where I lost it right at the end of the leg and was too high up the slope. Very slow on 5-7 was struggling with the roughness and steepness and felt like I couldn't get going properly. Bit better from there to the end but when I finished I didn't really feel like I'd worked all that hard (which is reflected in average HR). Got beaten by almost 20mins which was the most all week. Definitely need to get stronger in terrain.

Running warm up/down 15:00 [1]

Orienteering race 33:01 [4] 3.63 km (9:06 / km) +94m 8:03 / km
ahr:167 max:189

OO-Cup Day 3
Middle day so I was looking forward to it. It was so hot and sweaty and we started in the middle of the day as well. Didn't take the best route on 1, I was a bit faffy and getting distracted by all the paths when I should have just trusted my compass. Settled in to it after that and felt like I was running well (well until I hit a hill!). Hesitations in the circle at 4 and 10 cos it didn't look like I expected.

Running warm up/down 10:00 [1]

Orienteering race 1:17:39 [3] 6.69 km (11:36 / km) +218m 9:59 / km
ahr:154 max:186

OO-Cup Day 2.
Was not expecting to be out anywhere near this long (when straight line is 5.5km...) and I really struggled at the end as a result. But I think I may have been dehydrated from the start navigated to 11 on the way to 1 even though when I picked up my map I had noticed they were close together. Then at 2 I ran to a control on a hill when I hadn't even gone far enough yet. Was also messy in the circle at 3. Got a drink on the way to 4 and then to 9 I was ok. Then it was a struggle physically until I hit the short grass again on the way to 11. Not my best race!

Event: OO Cup 2014

Running warm up/down 10:00 [1]

With Andrew. Ankle niggley once again, seems to happen when I haven't ran on it for a while. Knee still taped.

Orienteering race 48:39 [4] 5.29 km (9:12 / km) +171m 7:55 / km
ahr:165 max:186

OO-Cup Day 1.
Got very confused on the way to 3 because I had read the countours the wrong way round, realised quickly enough that I didn't lose very much time. Otherwise was good navigationally. Not feeling particularly quick/fit, can't have been the altitude so may have been the heat ?
