Took Fly along the canal with intentions of a tempo run. Couldn't muster that either so stopped and watched the swallows/house martins flying just above the water for insects

Recce of half of Chase walk 40. A 38 mile obscure scout only, stress 'scout only', hike which I thought would make an interesting route. Everyone I ask about this makes a big deal that you have to be part of the scout organisation to enter the event.
Some of these areas I didn't know that well so map was out on a few occasions.
The other half of the route seems to follow bits of trig race. I will do the lot as soon as life gets back to normal and the little'un is out of hospital

Saturday series from Nine Gates/Marquis Drive.
Felt very lethargic and had Fly with me so was always on the lookout to see what she was about to chase after.
Bearings need a bit more work and distinguishing vegetation was a big problem. (need glasses)
Apart from that OK. stopped for phone call about half way and took Fly to get water from visitor center before getting the last few, probably wasted 5-10 minutes.
Nicked Jaffa cakes map as I couldn't be arsed to get the camera out and take a dodgy picture of it. Mines the red line.

Smashed it!!!
A milestone going sub 7min/mile on the big block.
Probably helped by the excessive rest period..or all the cycling...or laying off ventolin and going back on clenil modulite corticosteroid. I'm guessing number 3 as every run since Fellsman has been wheezy

..Or is it that I'm just venting my aggression that Mary is back in hospital with a stomach infection, about to have a drain fitted to get rid of all the crap Stafford hospital left in there.
I'm not going near that place again unless it's to cheer on the bulldozer.
