Orienteering - race 47:43 [3] 4.0 mi (11:56 / mi)

Csc blue women. Achray

Nice forest. Fairly up for this but still lacking in sleep (woken at 6 to the sound of Laurence vomiting all over the campervan. Nice. A big clean up job).

Can't find my map (so no pretty doma) but there is routegadget:

http://routegadget.fvo.org.uk/rg2/index.php#35

Very easy to use new version - even for a technophobe like me. From what I recall: 3 was tough and uphill. Felt coughy and unfit, 5 took a shite route through some shite. 7, ditto. Straight through green. Nice. 8 I was too far left, and knew I was, but there was too many fallen trees the way I wanted to go. 9 tried to cut a corner - windbliw - big mistake. 11 took a really roundabout route as I didn't want to go in the forest. It looked a little rough. But in the end I had to head in anyway, so should have stopped trying to find a less shitty route and got on with it. 13, but confused. Thought it would be on the outside corner from the way the circle was on the map. 14 slow, 15 seemed much lower than I thought it was going to be - 45secs + here. 17 poor route. 18 too far right. Way to far right. 1 min. Rest fine. I was going well in the forest but slowed significantly in the bracken. Think it's a combination of mistakes and lack of fitness in the rougher underfoot stuff. Maybe the bracken tracked up (I'll keep telling myself this - much easier than admitting a lack of fitness and actually going training!). Loved it regardless. Lovely weather too.

Off-road running 10:00 [3] 1.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Warm up. No warm down alas. I blame MC and Jess.

Orienteering - race 16:15 [3] 2.2 mi (7:23 / mi)

Scottish sprint champs. Going well apart for the end. Thought there were 24 controls. So after 22 went to the second last one (25) then 26 where I checked the code as something seemed a bit odd. Realised I had missed 24 so did 24-25-26 again, not realising that I'd missed 23 as well. Not surprised really. Haven't had enough sleep all week and, the kids are a bit ill, and wanting attention the whole time. I can't think straight as every 10secs one of them will ask me for something. Driving me nuts. So after this we all went to the cinema to see mr Peabody and Sherman, and I enjoyed the peace!

Off-road running 10:00 [3] 1.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Jogging around during the day. Ought to have done more. Achilles was ok after the sprint. Not too happy now.
7 PM

Orienteering - race 43:14 [3] 4.0 mi (10:49 / mi)

Scottish night champs. Enjoying the peacefulness of the forest at night. Lots of bearings, and they were ok for once. Too high on 4, went AWOL on the way to 6 but managed to relocate myself, nearly went to 7 instead of 15, felt really wheezy up the hill to 16 and 17. I was walking. 18 good but I thought it was a bit low, or the green was not big enough. Good to 19 but was a bit far right, rest fine. Overall, 4 was a big mistake, as was 6 and 15. 19 was 30secs or so, but going well with the rest so gathering a big pack of old men as I went, which was pretty tiresome.

Road running 39:00 [3] 4.83 mi (8:04 / mi)

2 x 2.4miles with 30mins rec - or as it is better known, jog to my sisters, cup of tea, jog home. Coughing up lots of stuff, but not feeling too heart-attacky so it's looking ok for the weekend.

Note

Still feeling shitty, but hopefully back to work tomorrow. To cycle or not to cycle. Hmm.

Note
(sick)

Crap in throat, headache, shivers, cough = bad.

Feeling so shitty you leave work mid-afternoon and head to the sofa with a duvet to watch Winter Olympics = not so bad.

Road running 1:03:20 [3] 7.38 mi (8:35 / mi)

Jog home from work. Saughton then backwards on the 7 hills route to castle rock, meadows and home. Tried to do some drills. My legs were not cooperating.
