Orienteering - training 20:00 [3] 2.4 mi (8:20 / mi)

1st leg relay simulation. I was 2nd leg. Going well. Tired on the later hills. It was mega hilly. Not buzzing physically this weekend. feeling physically flat. Nice terrain and fun though. Guessing time.

Road running 30:00 [3] 3.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Various jogging around
12 PM

Orienteering - training 18:00 [3] 2.0 mi (9:00 / mi)

Really guessing on time and distance. Felt freshest I have felt all weekend in this mixed sprint relay. Felt good, not amazing. Nailed some nice bearing in the forest, smooth in the intricate bits at the end, but fell hook, line and sinker for a trap! Dropped about a minute. Ouch!

Great weekend. Good training. Achilles has got better over the weekend and no ill effects from two races hard today, which is cheering. Overall, not as unfit as I expected after a v patchy January training.

Orienteering - training 12:02 [3] 1.5 mi (8:01 / mi)

Squad weekend. Sprint race. Only did this in the morning as I didn't like the idea of sprint intervals. Went hard, felt ok, not great, not dire. Long number one caught me out though. This is the time of year that you need to find out what you need to work on so good.

Road running 20:00 [3] 2.5 mi (8:00 / mi)

Trying to get a proper warm up / down in to help out. Might have a possible diagnosis for my calf pain finally, which would be good.

Road running 15:00 [3] 2.0 mi (7:30 / mi)

Orienteering - training 30:00 [3] 3.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

1st leg relay simulation then some control collecting. Taking it very easy, as planned. Highlights that I am totally out of practice with southern orienteerrinv. I run along hoping to see something big. There is nothing big. Oh dear. Harder in some ways to Scottish orienteering.

Orienteering - training 1:15:00 [3] 8.0 mi (9:22 / mi)

British squad weekend. High intensity sprint stuff, which is a bit tricky when it is very slippy underfoot, which is the worst thing for Achilles. Ran hard enough to make the sprint training worthwhile, but not all out, this was still enough to aggravate things enough not to be able to go night orienteering in the evening. Might have to try to pitch the pace better Saturday in order to get more out of what I can do (forest).

Road running 38:00 [3] 4.8 mi (7:55 / mi)

V little time, but managed to squeeze a run in between leaving work and going to the airport. Half because my sis texted me to let me know she has done a four mile run in the morning and was doing two miles on the way home. My stomach problems stopped me from going far enough to beat her. Damn! Nice one Frandy.

I am having real stomach problems since taking iboprufen for my Achilles. I hit the wall on the 8 mile cycle home yesterday because of it. How ridiculous! Got some gel now instead, so hopefully things will improve.

1 PM

Road running 30:00 [3] 3.8 mi (7:54 / mi)

Run to Corstorphine to go to bank, then back through the more interesting bit of the Gyle map, trying out some routes.

Orienteering - training 25:40 [3] 2.9 mi (8:51 / mi)

Road running 47:44 [3] 5.8 mi (8:14 / mi)

run to west end, sit an exam, run to kb, go orienteering, run home. Neck getting better but still had a few too many close calls with cars in the west end. I can't turn my head far enough to see if cars are coming...

All slow steady stuff, as advised, Achilles hurt in the exam, but was ok running later and was fine in the morning.

Orienteering - training 55:44 [3] 5.9 mi (9:27 / mi)

Woke with a v stiff neck indeed. I am such a cripple it is embarassing. Running was ok though, but I had to turn my whole body to look across roads. Back on the cocodamol.

Rerunning some of the urban race from the big weekend, checking out some routes. 7-8, 7 secs quicker going right over left. 10-11, 3 secs slower going left rather than right, 11-12, massively quicker (22 secs) going cow gate over the royal mile, and I got my route to 25 going down the steps as 9 secs quicker than back up to the royal mile and down. I must have just messed the execution in the race, also I had less lactate in my legs today than at the end of the urban race and jelly legs don't help you manoeuvre steps. Interesting. 11-12 was much quicker as you're giving yourself a longer opportunity to cross the road at pace, and the royal mile, it's easy to find yourself running into a tourist, as I did both today and in the race.

Wanted to do more but my Achilles was too 'reactive'. Hmm. Got to keep an eye on it. Kim can you call me on tuesday please.
