Orienteering - race 1:13:29 [3] 5.64 mi (13:02 / mi) +308m 11:08 / mi

Our coach at OK Tisaren once took us to a horrid area for training. It was really grim. Waist deep heather and fir trees in the face all the way. Why the hell did we come here I asked. Well orienteering is supposed to physically and navigationally tough, and this area is both was the answer. I was not convinced. It has to be fun too doesn’t it?

Controls 6-12 on today’s Loch Ordie’s brown course were definitely type 3 fun. Not fun at the time and not fun in retrospect. I’m not one to swear but the heather was just fucking awful. Really, really fucking awful. About as pleasurable as slamming your hand in a car door repeatedly. Can we just not go there again ever? Please? The other bit was fine. Course wasn’t v tricky and some of the controls I’m not convinced were in the right place 13 (too far W) and 14 (on the lower crag) but that might have just been my shite nav and a trundle around the area found them. Pleasant day out for half of the course thoufh

Let’s go back and miss out the grim bit - please!

P.S. goal was not to let James Hammond catch me up 20 mins and I did it by the skin of my teeth!
