Orienteering - race 32:10 [3] 2.54 mi (12:40 / mi) +147m 10:44 / mi
ahr:140 max:184

Glad to see I have raised some kids with a preference for forest orienteering. Keen to improve we took a trip to Polmaise this evening. Lucy was pleased that I let her run an orange for once (which as a W12 ought to be her class, but I have been making her do light green this year in most things). Laurence started a bit after me on green. I felt like a wheezy pensioner from the start - just shocking - and was going well until I made a stupid mistake on 9 - losing confidence that I was in the right re entrant at the last minute and bailing to the left through brambles.

13/14 area could do with a remap (a bad orienteer always says that). I was relying on seeing the green to lead me into 13 but I just didn’t, and got distracted by a large unmapped Boulder. Scratched my eye at 14 which freaked me out a bit and I dropped the punter pack, reeling them in and overtaking all but Loz to 16, only to not be able to navigate to the finish (where were the tapes Jon???) and was then overtaken by the punter pack. Though I would have to separate Scarlett Kelly from the phrase ‘punters’. She can really shift, and was navigating well. Just needs a bit more confidence and experience. She’s going places.
