Sunday pm:
Missed #13 and got the wrong track on #10 but otherwise really quite pleased with today’s run.

Monday morning: On further reflection, I’m definitely quite pleased with that run. On the face of it missing a control is not good, but there’s a lot to be gained from looking at what went well.
1. By control #8 I’d been in sixth place for three controls.
2. I knew that I’d lost contact with the map approaching #10 and I should have addressed that fast. Last place on that leg. If I'd been 25-30th, I'd have saved six minutes.
3. On #13/14, yes I went to the wrong control but I had absolutely nailed the long run through the woods and knew exactly where I was. I was 5:40 to #14. Fastest to #13 (similar distance) was 6:10.
4. The last ten controls. Four 1st, one 2nd, one 4th=.

So if I'd not lost that six minutes, and only taken a minute longer adding in 13 I'd have been 4th/5th overall.

Take a look at Routegadget vs the two leaders, from control 11-13/14 and also from control 15 to the end.

I’m going to do some proper analysis on this one, but I am genuinely pleased with that. Must get out more.

At last, 1km crawl non-stop + 420m breast stroke, 180m crawl beforehand. It feels like I could keep going - it's becoming natural. I'm not thinking about how many lengths I have left - it's how many more can I do? So now I need to work on speeding up my end-of-length turns and polishing my rather shabby technique. Very pleased!

TVOC Chiltern Challenge: Penn and Common Woods
In last place by five minutes at control #1. That set the outcome for the rest of the race, even if I did have some reasonable legs in the remainder of the race.

I hope I can pull it together for Ashridge next weekend.

Beautiful day for it today. Lovely to be out and see everyone.

I'd only managed 120m continuous crawl before. Over 1km in consecutive 250m intervals. Really pleased.

First time I’ve managed sets of four lengths (120m) if front crawl. Breathing every three rather than four seems to be helping. Will up to six next time.
