Note

on break this week, having my own little training camp here in baltimore. nice to be able to drive/run to some maps.

Orienteering (terrain run) 1:53:00 [3] *** 11.3 mi (10:00 / mi)

running all over soldier's delight. managed to avoid most of the insane green. visited some controls but mostly just running around reading the map. ahr:162 (rhr:46)

Saturday Mar 24, 2001 #

morning run on the river. pacing through some controls on the miami whitewater north map. almost warm today. ahr:149 (rhr:49)

fortunately it didn't snow today as forcasted. (now if the snow in the forest would only melt) heel feeling a little funny this morning, probably because I slept on it a little weird. felt good running today, ready for some intervals. (rhr:44)

4x1200m at interval pace. stepped up this workout by cutting the rest to 3min, and jogging a lap during the first 2mins of each recovery period. made it noticably tougher. 15mph wind was nice on the backstretch, but I paid for it coming the other way. It seems that running into the wind provides some of the same benefits as hill-running--but don't worry, we'll do some real hills on monday.

an aborted track warm-up. was going to do a workout today, but my knee still a little bruised from when I whacked it a few times wiping out on the long-o. (also the track is flooded) want to make sure I'm really recovered before starting hard workouts again--maybe tommorow. (rhr:46)
