R Shoulder, Rotator Cuff injury

2017-02-04 – 2018-02-04

Grade: 4

Fell during first lap of City of Lakes classic long event, landing in a prone position, arms extended forward. Knew right away I did some damage but finished the race in an ok time. Also did the skijoring 10 km in the afternoon but my shoulder was so stiff and painful the next they that I did not do the skate event. My HP sports doc made a worried face right away, thinks it may be a torn biceps ligament or labrum tear or both. Contrast MRI on 2/14.
Turns out to be torn supraspinatus, part of th rotator cuff. Surgery on 3/13, it appears everything went well.
Now 6 weeks of intensive recovery, followed by another 3-4 months of active recovery careful exercise.
Feb 10 2018, declaring myself healed. Started pretty much training normally in September '17. Still a little sore and strength wise not 100%. Will be a while before I can do freestyle swim moves but I am xc skiing full out.

Do not fall.
If fall, roll it.
If shit happens, follow doctor's orders. (I did that)
