L Foot, Ankle Sprain

2006-03-05 – 2006-12-20

Grade: 4

Sprained left ankle shortly before the halfway point of Valley Goat at Valley Forge, PA. Came down a drop off (on trail), and stepped in a hole of some sort. Fell down to a snapping sound from my ankle. Stood around for a few minutes... once I was fairly confident that there were no bones sticking out of my leg I carried on and finished the course. Had a bit of a limp and had to slow down, but it didn't feel TOO bad. By the time I drove home it had swollen to the size of a softball and by evening, it turned black. Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation, and Advil. Ordered a pair of Active Ankles...

Turned out to be a season ending injury. (occured at first meet of the year). Was able to run on it 2 weeks after injury, however discomfort continued. Took 8 months off from running. Now seems to be O.K. However, I am being careful not to re-injure it.
