The trails were mostly dry, although the stream in Deep Dark Hollow required crossing on a fallen log.
In looking at the DCR online map, I noted that all the contours are shifted about 500 meters to the south relative to the paths and text. Seems someone has messed around with their file.
I met a nice older fellow who was busy clearing Balster Brook under the trail.
He engaged me in quite a conversation about his running in the Blue Hills, recommending this and that trail for its tough climbs and rocky terrain. Surprised I had not run into him before.

Strategy today was to go fast to the start of the skyline, to get some faster running, and then hold it together back over the hills. This is really a poor race strategy, as once one wears out the legs on the first half, the hills and downhills can really be hard. I was shooting for 30 minutes at the start of the Skyline, almost got that, but I could tell on the way back I was losing time here and there. Kept going as hard as I could and finished with a faster time for this year, but this is a painful way to do this.
