Didn't do the full 7 races so I was in the group out last. One lad flew off but there was a battle between me and a guy in a Moxie top. Started to pass people pretty early really. Didn't destroy it along the road at the start and kept something for the hill. Really happy with the climb then. Felt good all the way and kept running decently well. Summited maybe 45s behind Moxie guy. As usual the Kippure descent was fantastic. Caught and passed Moxie guy just at the first flat bit and actually got to 10m behind the other fella from our wave. Suffered a lot on the road. Tried to keep good form and speed but Moxie guy came back at me on the last kick uphill and I didn't have anything to go with him to the line.

Waay better than last year which is nice but not that much better than 2011 when I recall feeling pretty dire.

IMRA Kippure handicap race.

Legs were stiff enough and I went out to hold onto my starting position up the hill. Mostly managed, passed a few and a few passed me, though near the top I started to suffer and lost a few places. Was in a bad way coming up to the summit and pushed through the turning. Garmin died then just off the summit. Took a minute but I caught back on and started to pass out lots and lots of people. That was fun. The road at the end was pretty tough and I suffered here. Could hear someone coming behind at the last crest so slowly upped it. They got right onto me so I kicked with about 100 to go, they kicked harder and got past me. Turned out it was Eoin so I kicked again and got him to the line.

Kippure Hill run.
There was a horrible road stretch at the start. It wasnt helped by how sick i felt at that point after the car journey. It was at least slightly downhill. I was just sitting in behind conor the whole way up this, got onto the hill and i felt pretty good most of the way up, had a few little battles but nothing hugely interesting.
turned at the top and was nearly getting sick, 500m down the hill i had passed a few people but I wasnt making massive progress and i noticed a beautiful grassy slope to my right in the ditch, went into it. Then i felt bad becasue at the start the director had asked us to please stay on the path and there was no one else running this bit, was going to go back to where everyone else was but i noticed the yellow marker exactly where i was! flew down that and passed out a few people. then we got to the first stream, put my foot doen but there was no ground there, ended up sprawled in a ditch sideways half submerged in bog. the rest of the run was then really sandy.
saw ruth then who had injured herself and made sure she was alright.
hit the road and i could see conor just ahead. I was gaining on him slightly but i just couldnt increase the pace any more. i tried and tried, then some other guy tried but it didnt work.
one of my better hill run results
