Boulder Dash: Red Day 2

TimGood

1. +01:00Shin had hurt a lot while walking the vampire last night so afraid I might not finish. Requested an unranked day so I could drop out if necessary. Trail N to stream then straight, looking for the wet area to lead me in. Unsure of where I was but eventually got there. Pat Zerfas (started 17min ahead) just in front of me at control.
2. NW toward marsh, checking off the large boulder. Straight from there looking for the rocks and wet area before the control. Not running very fast due to my sore shin and did not pass Pat until 3/4 of way there.
3. N aiming for the NW corner of marsh, then between the thin pond and other one, noting the rocks by the stream. Continue N while checking for a stone wall in case I was wrong and went by Incredible Pond. No stone wall and hit the SE end of small green marsh as expected. Pat is right behind me the entire way. N to stone wall, follow it to next marsh and aim for the trail. Drift left and come out near jct with stone wall. Carefully in to control. Pat has disappeared. Thought she had kept a better line and gotten ahead but turned out she went N at last marsh and got lost.
4. +01:00E along dry stream, E of hill and along E side of cliff up to control. Did not intend to go around cliff, thought I was taking a more direct line but when I saw it, I knew were I was.
5. +01:30To stone wall jct, then bearing in. Missed to the right and had to circle around a bit.
6. Straight, contouring a little at the end.
7. +02:00Tried to cut between small pond and large marsh but looked impassible when I got there so had to run around. Control seemed higher than I expected. Missed it low and tried to run up the line of knolls. Not really sure where I was when I found it.
8. +00:30E, hitting trail near the marsh. S on trail a little to clear the green but angled to far S in woods and hit the other trail. In from the bend.
9. +02:30Across the isthmus, around the point of the lake and bearing up the hill. Thought I would see the 4 boulders but did not. Wandered around with several others until I located the two boulders NW of control.
10. +03:00Wanted to go on S side of Seahorse swamp but was already past the tip before I realized this. Headed for between the swamps but fell off downhill so much decided to keep dropping and head for the road. Might have been a good idea if the running was better. Also my shin hurt the most on downhills so I tended to run slower. Hit road at bend near the dry pond, ran to trail crossing then headed back uphill to 10. Just like yesterday I drifted left and hit trail to high. Cut in at a big rock right next to trail thinking it was the one on the line to 11. When I hit another trail, knew it was not. Saw the ponds and ran the correct way.
11. Straight, angling slightly N to hit the trail to the building. Since I hit the building yesterday, knew exactly where to go for last control.
