Race Evaluation

Rocky Mountain 1000 Day: Chase

ParkSchool

1. Running hard (for me) at start, but nearly bowled over (figuratively) by unknown freight train who started behind me.
2. Following train including Jeff and Hillary Saeger. Passed by Vlad at punch.
3. Still in train. Drifted slightly to R taking advantage of nice game trail.
4. Still in contact with Jeff Saeger and one other. Rest of train has left me in the dust.
5. Jeff goes R, and I go L to run along N side of elevations. Follow small ridge too far before turning back to flag.
6. Downhill through gap, then slow jog up hill to R of line. Several others including Charlie Shabazian ? just ahead. Hit clearing to E of flag, then had relatively good run uphill to flag.
7. Slightly L of line, but passing R of finish to reach flag. Several people at flag including Jeff Saeger again and Mario.
8. Straight.
9. +09:00Oops. Tried to hold on to tail of Jeff and Mario as they chose uphill option passing finish control. However, lost legs and lost bearings, winding up on next spur to N.
10. Demoralized and tired. Met John Goodwin (who also looked demoralized and tired) on this leg. I took more direct line, while John went R, then ran past me through clearing W of flag.
11. Left of rocky outcropping. Still with John.
12. Went straight while John circles to L, but still beats me to flag.
13. Across "stream", then up long hill. Can see 3 others including Glen Tryson ahead. Making up some ground, but I'm a ways behind. John seems to have slowed some.
14. Try direct line without much success, drifting too far to R. Pass by Steppin' Stone on way to flag, then wander around some more before convincing myself that clearly visible flag is intended finish and not simply left over from the prologue. An inglorious finish to an inglorious run.
F. Try to give it best effort, even though nobody else in sight. Receive corn muffin mix for my efforts.
