Race Evaluation

CNOC Summer Evening Series, Donadea: Long

roar

1. P D P 1 Easy to number 1. Hadn't really warmed up so built into it.
2. P D P R 4 Ran along the road a little and then in. It was not at all clear where there hashings were. Compass was good so got it super well.
3. P D P R 3 Keep the fence to my left and run. Pretty much on the line. Aggressive into the control and took it well.
4. P D P R 3 Found the elephant track through the green. Straight into the control. Nice fastest split.
5. P D P 2 +00:10Decided not to take the paths through the first green as I thought they would be hard to find. My direction was bad leaving 4 though. Running well.
6. P D P R 2 Down to the road and in through the forest. All fine.
7. P P R 2 +00:10Direction was bad leaving the road, I think the path came out a bit higher than anticipated. Corrected but a small bit hesitant and not perfect line. Cut into the control too early too and had to go through some unnecessary brambles
8. P D P R 3 Crossed the road, briefly though the path would be right but it was left. Took one step in the wrong direction.
9. P D P R 3 Powered straight through the light green. Hit the road and the path was in front of me which was odd, so I ran along it. Saw a few people in the circle but knew what I was doing.
10. P D P R 4 Run hard on the bearing. Eoin Riordan was with me for most of it.
11. P D P R 4 Out along the green, even if it was vague and nice spike
12. P P R 4 +00:05Slightly off line at first. Saw the depression and corrected. A little slow into it, pick up the agression again.
13. P D P R 4 +00:05Small hesitation leaving 12 while I looked at the map and got stuck in a fallen tree just before the control. Otherwise good
14. P D P R 4 Went around the hash a bit, then compass and got it perfect
15. P D P R 4 Compass. Caught the path bend, hit it perfectly.
16. P D P R 3 Compass. Along the depression, though I didn't really see it on the map.
17. P P R 3 Path was non-existant. Compass was a little unsure but saw the tree.
18. P D P R 4 Along the path to the junction and compass. Great spike. Fastest by 26s!
19. P P R 4 +00:15Uh. Edge of the green was poorly defined. I decided to go through. Speed was good at first though I slowed gradually. GPS does not represent well what I though happened. I found an east/west ditch with having crossed a north/south ditch. So I went north. Hit the path, ran on it for ~50m and then crossed the ditch on the map. Confidence was poor on the compass in the green
20. P P R 4 +00:10Compass but a little off to the left. Knew it and only had one side to look on.
21. P D P R 4 Bash through the forest. Striaght on. Little right of the control in the circle, but was the runnability way in.
22. P D P R 3 Road leg. I think the route was right. Ran it hard. Happy only 4s down on Conor
23. P D R 3 +00:10wasn't sure what was happening along this leg. Stayed close to the road without running on it and runnability was bad when either side of me I could see good. Didn't have good distance or a good picture
24. P D P R 2 Easy control, Running hard again
25. P D P R 4 Made this harder by cutting through the green but it was totally worth it and was a great spike.
26. P D P R 2 Run run run
F. P D P R 1 Run run run
