Race Evaluation

2014 US Classic Championships: Red

Kseniya

1. P D P R 2 Practicing my bearings and going straight.
2. P D P R 3 Cannot remember how I got to this control but I did.
3. P D P R 3 Straight up the hill, breathing hard but not letting myself be bothered by it, no walking aloud.
4. D 2 Careful down the hill, watching my compass, straight to the control, slight confusion due to more open woods than drawn on the map.
5. P D P R 2 I was so surprised when I hit #5 dead on, I almost didn't believe that was my boulder and wanted to go further.
6. P D P R 3 Straight. The same guy I saw yesterday passed me.
7. P D P R 3 Came down to the indistinct trail and straight to the control checking off boulder and knolls. Another dude passed me and the two of them were visible to me ahead, which helped to reinforce my bearing.
8. P D P 2 Straight, was a little wobbly but no problems.
9. P D R 3 How did I take this one? Oh ye, straight again, bleh..
10. P D P R 3 Straight to the second trail and then over the shallow hill, very careful to not let myself get drifted off to the right side, which the dudes some distance in front of me were doing. Easy into the control, hopping over the rocky area.
11. P D P R 3 Plan was to bash to the road and then make my way to the prominent reentrant and slowly go into the control. Plan achieved.
12. P D P 3 Went up left of the cliffs and approached the control from the left side checking off features.
13. P D P R 3 Straight.
14. P D P R 3 +00:15Through the reentrant to the wide spur, came up to the left on purpose to avoid reading the rocky detail, hit the trail and approached the control from the top, veering slightly left and correcting quickly.
15. P D P R 2 Straightish.
16. P D P R More straight i believe.
F. Trying not to trip on the finish chute.
